Hi everyone,
Some of you will remember me talking about a Vietnam Vet friend who is on his second liver transplant & seemed to have been forgotten about by his Liver specialists , neglected.
My hubby & I went with him to his last specialists appointment & stuck up for him, & pushed a little.
Dr James said he’d help him with Generics, but his specialist kind of freaked out, worry about his rejection drugs interacting with the orals. But now I’m so happy to say, he’s been given the orals, and he started a week ago.
He’s on Sof/ Dac for 24 weeks.
He said he’s feeling good although he’s been a bit tired. He’s stopped his reflux drugs & feels ok.
I’m so happy for him. It’s about time they helped him with this virus.
He’s such a lovely guy & all he did wrong was serve his country in a nightmare war & still suffers from that fact mentally.I’m surprised though that they’re not keeping a closer eye on his bloods, he doesn’t have bloods done until 4 weeks into tx.
We are watching him though, talking to him every day, & he seems a lot happier.
We make sure he’s eating properly & drinking lots of water etc.SO excited that he’s at last getting treatment
My J ( J the Dragon Slayer) is doing well, 2 & half weeks to go for 12 wks post tx bloods
He now has a girlfriend !! his very first. Being virus free has changed his lifeGood luck to all.
Love Cindi x

Fantastic news about your friend. And good on you and your husband for advocating for him.
First tests at 4 weeks is standard for most not prescribed Riba, but I’m sure your watchful eye on him will avoid the very small possibility of any issues. I’m sure that within a few weeks the meds will give him a new lease on life. And young J…..wow, time has flown. Sounds like he is getting on with life as someone his age should.
Best wishes for both J and your friend.

10 April 2016 at 5:00 am #15157Hi Gaj,
Thanks, yes it’s wonderful to see that his specialists are finally taking notice of him.
He’s been hanging around on the side lines being ignored for so long.He already feels some benefits, he’s stopped taking his reflux tablets as he doesn’t need them now.
It so good to see him getting better & better.

10 April 2016 at 4:23 pm #15185Hi CJ,
That’s great to hear that your friend is finally receiving treatment. What a relief for him and for you and your husband who have been advocating on his behalf. It does make you worry about those that don’t have someone in their corner to battle through the medical minefield.Wonderful news about J. Life is good.
