And we at the buyers club are trying to assist the Australian Government save a small fortune. If the this government deals with Gilead and of course they will as they signed the patent. So lets say they cut the cost down to $50K per tx and provide every hepper in Australia with access, this will cost $10 Billion. Umm this isn’t going to be funded so who will miss out??
The alternative just don’t turn up to the meeting with Gilead talk to the knowledgeable folk here at buyers and strike up a deal with a generic pharma for $1000 per tx. Total cost $233 million verses $10 billion. Shit the health minster could win the Nobel fucking peace prize for fiscal responsibility and human kindness. Em

Lol yeah. That would be the absolutely most logical (and dare I say, compassionate) approach. But to stick two fingers up at Gilead, as India has done? No Aust Govt is going to have the balls to do that, no matter how many people’s lives are at stake.
So I think Susan Ley misses out on her trip to Stockholm lol

From what I’ve been able to gather, in countries like the UK, Canada as far as percentages of those triaged for treatment go its around 10% of the infected population who receive tx ie those badly off (but not too badly)
No matter what line is currently being pushd by the PBAC and major advocacy groups, Australia is not going to be the first/only country in the world to allow universal access.

25 November 2015 at 2:26 pm #4646Thank God for the Chinese and their ability to tell Gilead precisely where to insert their patent. The global retail value for a non-subsidized 12 week tx seems to have been established. A reasonable wholesale cost, as Em said, might be $1000 U.S. when buying in large lots. It is hard to believe that anyone would consider paying 50 times that just to be all legal and proper to Gilead.
Politicians, lobbyists and Big Pharma.
They are robbing the poor to give to the rich because the rich were able to afford to buy something that they knew the poor desperately needed.
Great system, if you are rich.

Hello,
It is Thanksgiving in the U.S.
It is time to be thankful, in part, because now there is a pathway to a cure that costs less than $10,000. I understand that is not affordable to all, but it is to many.
Plus you get a 5 day vacation in a beautiful country where Christmas is in the middle of the summer.1. Go to GP2U on the web and make an online appointment with Dr. James Freeman
(Google him to find out about this wonderful man)
2. After your appointment, things will be crystal clear
3. Book a flight to Australia and plan on a 5 day stay.
4. Come home with a tested, proven cure.Customs is not in the business of taking away legally prescribed, life-saving medications from citizens returning to the U.S.
For each person who can do this, our health care system can better afford to help those who can not.
Give your self a cure for Christmas!

ALT 2626 November 2015 at 4:36 pm #4705Thanks Zhuk,
Where are you in general terms. I will put a “Zhuk” pin on my map for effect!
My wife, who is Romanian and a good communist skeptic, was totally against my unorthodox (although she is Orthodox) approach to getting well. Now, she is planning our trip to kangaroo land.
She is a believer now.
We will see what happens in Hepmag. They may ban me for advertising for Dr. F.

Fantastic that you are now in a position of wellness to be thinking of an aussie trip (just watch out for the drop bears lol)
Definitely hope your post stays put…and as for ‘advertising’ where no one associated with this forum and the club makes profit out of it, compared with posts singing Gilead’s praises…well I guess they have that prerogative if you get canned
But if a few people who feel desperate enough about their situations see it before then, and decide to check fixHepC out…then lives have potentially been saved. As per your Oscar Schindler allegory – save the ones you can.

ALT 2627 November 2015 at 6:15 pm #4762From my Black Friday post on hepmag forum:
A note on our government’s policies concerning the HCV situation:
I am fine with the government allowing Gilead and other big pharma companies to make their blood money profits, just don’t restrict MY right to access life-saving, affordable medication from abroad in the name of protecting my health.
I think Thomas Jefferson would agree.

Coach Mike,
Thoughtful post and we think useful information for our members to see and consider.
Just as a reminder to all of our wonderful members reading this thread, this forum is about providing useful information to our members, but we cannot endorse any medical course of action. We encourage all members to use all posted suggestions, such as this, as a starting place to do additional research for their own particular set of circumstances. Our research indicates that Dr. Freeman has a good reputation, but how it fits for any member’s circumstance, or how US Customs will behave, are all questions to be carefully considered. Our wish is the elimination of Hep C as a disease, how each of us get there will be very different paths. In this time of giving thanks we are grateful for the multitude of our membership that have been cured.
