I’ve had a very itchy condition with lichenoid patches that come and on the skin for like 5 years now. So far as I know, this might be related to my HepC condition, so I was wondering if the condition will improve shall I heal from HepC. After 3 weeks into my treatment I get the usual itch here and there, but I don’t think it is as bad as it used to be. However, those lichenoid patches are still there. Anyone here with a similar story?

I had all kinds of skin conditions before getting rid of hepC, lots of other stuff too, turns out some was hepC and apparently other symptoms were autoimmune derived due to various food intolerances, basically I went on exclusion diet during treatment for hepC and my rashes disappeared, gradually I reintroduced various foods and found a few which did not agree with me, dairy, soy and eggs the main ones,

Note I didn’t stop drinking alcohol, just switched to a gluten free beer,
Still not sure about gluten, can’t afford the bloody tests,, still have seborrhea though not as bad as it was a year ago before treatment, I wonder how much this virus plays with our immune/autoimmune systems in general,, and what if any permanent changes it leaves behind,

12 month EOT tests next week,,,

    regards jim

I did the same as you even before I got my treatment, due to food intolerance issues and then found out bread and dairies did not agree with me either, but lichen planus is due to an autoimmune response against HepC virus and has nothing to do with it. Apparently, your system goes into overdrive in trying to fight against the virus in this sort of failed battle, so it starts targeting healthy tissue. I was only asking as it is annoying, but like I am saying, I seem to itch less and less day by day, so hopefully enough, I shall get rid of it in due course. Thanks for your reply mate.

    Hello Jorge,

Your skin is mostly dead layers peeling off, so even if we could just wave a magic wand and cure the cause your skin would not magically change at that moment.

I presume things are cyclical with better and worse bits. In the event treatment helps it would still take as long as it usually does to settle down, more or less.

    YMMV
