Hi James , thanks so much for some clarity on the betablocker issue–i was taking only 20mg at night– but am very sensitive to anything like that- I was wondering where my libido had gone, was feeling lethargic in the mornings- I phoned my consultant and asked whether she would prescribe an ACE inhibitor as a substitute to the beta blockers– didnt get a positive response wouldnt do it -and my local gp is scared about treading on my consultants toes.. so I might drop the betas altogether -most nights ive only been taking 10mg (reluctance to take them )
I noticed that there are quite a few foods that contain ACE inhiibiting componenets such as :
Casokinins and lactokinins, breakdown products of casein and whey, occur naturally after ingestion of milk products, especially cultured milk. .
The lactotripeptides Val-Pro-Pro and Ile-Pro-Pro produced by the probiotic Lactobacillus helveticus or derived from casein have been shown to have ACE-inhibiting and antihypertensive functions.I did restart taking a good brand of probiotics with Lactobacillus helveticus in it- also I ve been starting to make homemade KEFIR
this is an excellent link for info on ACE inhibiting foods materials

Thanks James
will let you know how things unfold

for Dr James F – am halfway through sof/dac did additional riba for the first month- then stopped it- would you recommend taking it for thest few months or month of treatment as a security measure against any mutant viral strands ?? or can it be taken alone for a month at EOT ?
any feedback appreciated

still undetectable at halfway point– whether to take riba for last month as addition is on my mind any ideas?
pllatelets gone up from 42,000 to 59,000 in last month and white blood cell count is up as well – alts 67 .
dont feel too bad – bit of tiredness and headaches occasionally.

I am pretty sure getting the generics wont be a problem — i am sure there some folk here who have done it in ireland– if not you could always fly out and bring back the meds with you ?

hiya Sir re off topic question you asked about….___ just back from weekly hospital appt with consultant— yes my mistake i am F10 quite a difference !! havent really been checking test results over the last year as i felt so well !!? platelets at beginning of treatment are 44,000 so over last 3 years they have reduced from 90,000 to 40,000.. viral load has been in the 6 million range for last 7 years -no spikes or lows at all . They took bloods today so will see what they look like nxt week when i go up again– feelin pretty rough with a horrendous sore throat /infection am on augmentin 500mg for that -really dont want it to get into my lungs and gain a strong foot hold .
hope your day is good my friendR
hi Sir, I am going to the hospital tomorrow – I will check up on the fibroscan results as far as i remember (yr ago!) it was what i mentioned -Their reason for treating was based on several issues varices-swollen spleen – longterm elevated lfts- I will get this clarified when I am face to face with my consultant tomorrow
also am not trying to promote any one or anything here contrary to what others might be thinking… what i share was freely given from my own experience something that helped me
