Yeah berrinice I suspect the same for my brother. He is in NSW and I’m in QLD so I can’t help him beyond talking sending info. I gave him all the printouts from this site – genotype recommendations, GP Cheat Sheet etc. His DR said she won’t do anything because it’s ‘illegal’! He’s been waiting all year to get into the public Liver clinic and appointment isn’t until May 2016 – useless! They just recently told him he has a 50% chance of surviving the next 2 yrs. He is in a brain fog most of the time and gets overwhelmed and confused with all the info – I have trouble myself:)

Paperwork is done and $$ transferred yesterday so just waiting for the meds to arrive!
Have a last celebratory drink on xmas and then on the wagon.

I would love to at the least be rid of the horrendous fatigue and some of the relentless ‘body’ pain I suffer! My problem is insomnia rather than sleeping too much. Wow, to be happy for no particular reason – that sounds awesome

Absolutely Zhuk, very lucky to have such a fabulous advocate!
Yeah, I was actually surprised at how ‘excited and encouraging’ the Hep nurse was in response. Definitely, glad to help but not have to deal with the ‘script red tape’.
So, Doc suggests I need 16 weeks tx for best results. Anyone else doing that on Sof/Dac?
Obviously we can only import 12 weeks script at a time and mine says ‘1 repeat’, does this mean people end up with buying another 12 weeks worth but only using 1/3?
Trying to get my ‘foggy’ head around that!

That’s sad about your friend berrinice. My brother has HCV too and he has cirrhosis, in and out of hospital with infections from the fluid buildup, he’s not good.
I’ve had my consult today and talked with Dr Freeman about some of these symptoms. So having the tx will be the only way I’ll end up knowing how much of what’s happening to my body is from the Hep C or just me having other issues.

I don’t expect to feel 100% again BUT I’m really hoping that I feel a lot better than what has become ‘normal’…

    Well it’s done!!!! :cheer: :cheer:
After using the chrome, webRTC, sitting in Virtual Waiting Room, seeing myself on screen and hearing myself and noises in the house, appointment time came and went and was ticking over and nothing happening. I rang and the Doc called me he said the connection was bad because he could see me in slow motion:)

Thought it was because my son was watching YouTube on his iPad but turned out it was Telstra’s pathetic connection at 0.75 Mbps!! Curse you Telstra *******
So we did it by phone, he’s great and was teasing me at the end because I couldn’t find the ‘Files’ button to download my pdf’s. There were too many options on the screen and he said I was doing a ‘Man View’ :)

Scary transferring all that money over like that…bank account looks sad now:((

So, guess who called me before my appointment?? The hospital Hep Nurse! She said she spoke with the Specialist Friday and he kept ‘umming and ahhhing’ but said he would write script at my Review next April 2016. I told her it didn’t matter I was going through Dr Freeman. She actually let out a great sigh of relief and said, ‘Good for you! that’s a great idea. What can we do to help though? You want me to get you in earlier for some monitoring?’ So we agreed that when i get my meds and tx start, let her know and she’ll get me in for probably 8 wk check. Now I just have to find out if my GP is still not scared off…

So, now off for some blood tests.
I feel excited but nervous and nauseous all at the same time :S

    :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks everyone for your support. Ok the iPad app might be different to Android.
GAJ: there is no Full Site Button, no GP2U Home page. Just opens to Patient Home Page with My Appointment, Prescriptions, Go To Waiting Room,Questionnaire(for personal info) Tools(nothing there), Contact Us and Sign Out.
So, give up on iOS app.

So, I setup webcam on PC, downloaded Chrome webRTC extension. Have no idea what to do from there until I go to Virtual Waiting Room tomorrow.
Zhuk, you used Chrome webRTC didn’t you? Is there anything I need to know about set up?

OMG! How exciting I have booked my appointment with Dr James on Monday. The ball is starting to roll :cheer:

Ok, can someone help me re the time – QLD doesn’t have Daylight Savings BUT Tasmania does. If the booking is for 1:00 pm is that QLD-My time or Tasmania – DR’s time?

Also, I downloaded the iPad app, initially it had a Video Demo which froze and got nowhere. Now there is no Video button. How do I test the app to see if it will work in the consult?
Did anyone else use the app for their consult?

Feeling very excited now and glad to have taken the plunge because the Hep Nurse – who’d arranged to call me during the Specialist’s clinic yesterday – didn’t call back, as predicted!
Thanks everyone for the ‘push off the fence’ I needed ;)

Appreciate any help re the time and video thing.

I hope his results are good. I wonder why you have to pay? People have said Medicare covers 2 VL’s a year – so has he used those already? Is it his age, being a dependent under 16 yrs? You could give Medicare a call, I’ve found them very helpful to have a quick look at my history tests/claims and what I’m entitled to.

Let’s hope it turns out Good News for xmas :)

Quote 2b “She doesn’t have HCV but after a lot of vague dr visits, and then another dr who seemed to know more and then a lot of blood testing she was definitively diagnosed with Lupus, and it appears more and more that’s the correct diagnosis for her

Hope you don’t have that, but some of what you describe sounds awfully similar. Wish they would make a pill for that too.”

Gosh, that’s interesting Lupus? Well it wouldn’t hurt to ask GP. Problem is I’m with a new one now and she’s not fully apprised of my history. Gets tiresome telling ‘one’s story’ over and over.
I know of a couple of people back home in NSW that have it – there’s no tx is there?

Welcome Another Attempt. You’ve found yourself at a wonderful place here, it’s very informative and supportive. If you’re like me you may take awhile to navigate around and keep discovering sections and stories accidentally – it’s great!

I am trying to get the ball rolling with GP2U but not getting it right it seems…
Maybe I should call the number you said you did!

    Good Luck :)

Can anyone help with GP2U? I registered and downloaded the iPad app-froze on video demo, so got nothing there. I went to Book Appointments and there’s no Dr James Freeman. I type in his name to search and says ‘0 Matches’.

So, how do I book with him?

Wow, I’m so glad I found this section. I’m a new member and have been navigating around the site for the past month or so and still keep finding new areas:)
I’m 52 & have had HCV G3a for 34 yrs, F0-F1, about to go the GP2U route because sick of playing the ‘waiting’ game.
I’ve had a range of symptoms concerning me over the years. Chronic major Depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD but that aside…
Absolutely debilitating fatigue, sometimes can’t get from one end of the house to the other without holding onto walls/furniture, nausea, difficulty swallowing – like something stuck, bloating, GI problems – severe bouts of diarrhoea that can be bright orange and last for days on end, making me housebound. Low tolerance of fats, sugars, gluten, dairy. Chronic migraines, tinnitus comes and goes, joint pain and sometimes general feeling of being ‘hit by a truck’ aching all over. Insomnia and crazy lucid dreams, nightmares. Frequent night urination sometimes more the urgency but nothing happens.

A few years ago I suddenly developed swollen finger joints; then sharp shooting pain in right arm to fingers, waking through the night from pain, numbness in hands. These symptoms have escalated – tested and told I have Carpal tunnel, Osteoarthritis – neck is mostly bone on bone causing nerve impingement also crushing same nerve in right elbow. As well as sections on my spine especially lumbar, so that pinches the sciatic nerve. My hands can just freeze up which is very scary when driving. The on and off periods of hands and feet burning, numbness, pins & needles became permanent earlier this year.
Recently developed swelling and numbness in my left cheekbone/side of face.Felt like toothache pain went to dentist, all good. Dr says I have arthritis in my TMJ and it’s crushing the Trigeminal Nerve. Has started on the right now too. So bad even my glasses don’t fit properly because of the swelling.
Brain fog and memory problems also worse in past 2 years.

All in all I’m told nothing to do with the HCV and nothing I can do about any of it. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease and can’t stop progression. I take various supplements to help; also nerve pain medication and painkillers when I absolutely can’t take anymore.

Suddenly gained a lot of weight in past year, always been a slender woman so really frightening how quickly it happened when no obvious changes in diet etc. Told it’s just ‘age’. Cholesterol has been steadily increasing too despite my restrictive diet, but told the overall ratio of HDL/LDL is good so not to worry.
I literally feel like I’ve aged 10 years in the past 2 given how rapidly some of these extra conditions developed.

I’ve had a brainscan too because I had several sudden episodes of brief paralysis – I was aware of my surroundings and was trying to tell my body to move but couldn’t and tried to speak but couldn’t and my son said I don’t even blink when it happens. It comes over suddenly starts by a sudden weakness in legs, wobbly gait, dizziness and slurring of words like I’m drunk or a person having a diabetic hypo and then I can’t move. I’ve been rushed to hospital after one of these, where I was left in a wheelchair in the A&E with no-one, I couldn’t speak or move so I was left for hours until I finally could move the chair to the Triage. By the time I was seen I could talk, all tests were clear and they dismissed me at 1 am with no-one to pick me up and I couldn’t walk properly. I had to slide along the walls to the exit to call a taxi. I gave my son instructions if it happens again get the neighbour but no ambulance.
Brain is fine, so DR concluded it must be extreme stress and the body is shutting down to protect itself. Truly terrifying experience to have and that explanation gives no comfort.

Anyway, sorry about that long waffle! I don’t have anyone else who can relate to any of these symptoms although my brother has same HCV G3a but with cirrhosis and he has same arthritis, etc.
Certainly read here many having some of the same things I’m experiencing. It helps to know this because sometimes I feel so utterly isolated with no-one to relate to.
