    @chejai

Well, I’m finishing Week 8 and at weeks 3, 5 and 7, I developed horrendous migraines, lasting on average about 4 days of the worst symptoms and then several days to recover. Just to point out though, I have a long history of migraines, so this isn’t ‘new,’ just a curious pattern.

Unfortunately, I’m still feeling shocking, I’m suffering crushing fatigue and struggling to get up in the morning and dragging myself around. Still having the dizzy spells related to crouching or bending down. The migraines have been on the left side, starting at the neck, back of skull and moving up behind left eye. This is the same side I have the swelling. pain and numbness from temple, cheekbone and eye which progresses during the day and by evening swelling and pain is intense and eye becomes very blurry. I have trouble wearing my glasses and can’t sleep on my left side. I’m now wondering if this (my GP insisted is arthritis of TMJ) and migraine are related.
Since I can’t see local GP because she won’t monitor me while on Tx, another trip to see my previous one looks necessary.
Also hoping to book in with Dr James in next week or so review duration of Tx and maybe get an idea why I’m feeling so fatigued and full-on body pain.

I’m moving house next week and have to do it on my own, so I really need to be functioning better.
I’m trying to catch up with how everyone’s doing and wishing you all well :) #love #flower

Hi Dan, glad to hear it’s not neurological and I was a bit confused at first as to what ‘post BP’ was  I realise you mean postural aka orthostatic BP. Unfortunately, that’s the only one I seem to find on Google describing the dizziness, light-headedness, feeling faint, seeing stars etc. BUT it’s describing a reaction in BP from standing after sitting or lying down not bending or crouching down and then standing – which is my issue. My GP has done the orthostatic test ‘sit then stand’ and I’m ‘normal’.

Hope you find out your cause and that it’s not anything serious, all the best.

Hi Pat1, Congratulations on your EOT and glad to hear you’re feeling pretty good, despite the overwhelming heat and insomnia!

Al the best to you :) #love #flower

    Dan said-
“My BP is normal and I’m not anemic. On the last visit my GP sent me for VL blood test and to check for diabetes.

I have an appointment this weekend with the neurologist, it will be interesting to see what they say. 7 month ago they didn’t want to see me and said to complete HEP C treatment first.”

Ok, glad to hear your BP is ok and not anaemic. Interested to hear what the neurologist says for you. I’m going request diabetes test next GP visit too.

    Good Luck mate :)

Agree with everyone here, good thread DT :+1:

I haven’t wanted to put too much stock into my HCV-free self. I’m trying to be realistic with a shade or 2 of optimism! The last couple of years have been ‘frightening’ for me regarding a rapid progression of certain conditions and a show of new symptoms. All the endless tests, scans and medicos I’ve seen but no real answer – things either lumped together as ‘polyarthritis’ and its varying effects or dismissed as ‘age-related.’
OMG! Even the scary fluoro orange explosive diarrhoea – my toilet bowl wearing a safety vest :P – that would last 5 days p/m – still told ‘nothing to do with your HepC!’ (BTW this hasn’t occurred since Tx)

Actually it’s been interesting that NO-ONE I saw thought anything was related to HCV (including the Gastro Specialists), it was only when I came on here and did some research, spoke to Dr James etc and discovered many off these symptoms/conditions I have are related to HCV.

As DT says, I look forward to months down the track when I’ve completed Tx and have hopefully sustained SVR and see what has changed and what I’m left with. Afterall, isn’t it possible to have some permanent damage to our bodies from decades of constant viral attack, constant inflammatory response? Maybe, my joints are too damaged and my nervous system is too because given our age now (those of us who’ve had it for decades) our bodies just don’t bounce back and repair themselves as well as they did even 10 yrs ago. Hell, for me it’s even 3 yrs ago!

So far, on Tx, I’m ending week 7, the only improvement (other than the orange thing) has been the absence of my usual persistent daily low-grade anxiety and agitation. I won’t know of this is actually a lucky side effect until after EOT. The energy I had in the 1st month has gone, so I’m back to dragging myself around every day to get things done. Acute anxiety attacks still happen and everything else is there with days of exacerbation.

It really is still a ‘WAITING GAME’ :(

Hi Hope, glad to hear you have started Tx. Really sorry to hear your anxiety is weighing heavily.
From my experience, I have suffered constant general anxiety for decades, add to that severe Panic attacks and PTSD. I only drink coffee in the morning as it makes me too agitated and can’t sleep if I drink later. I have only used valium as a last resort – insomnia, panic attacks, muscle spasms/sciatica; so not daily.
I use breathing, aromatherapy and other alternative therapies.

When I started Tx, about an hour after taking my Magic Pills I would feel ‘great’, energetic and less pain than normal, so very motivated and doing heaps. Not an anxious or agitated ‘energy’ as others have said, it’s more of a pleasant ‘high’ not a drug ‘rush high’.

The most remarkable thing for me is that my usual daily low grade anxiety and agitation that would normally build as the day went on until evenings when I would be very ‘stressed’ – actually disappeared! I thought ceasing alcohol would be a struggle as I tended to use this to ‘calm’ myself at night but no desire at all, with no high anxiety there’s no compulsion to self-medicate.

I really hope you give this a go and for your sake it would be awesome for you to experience a reduction/cessation of your high level anxiety.

Wishing you all the best Hope, hang in there :) #love

Welcome Rob, this is a great place to get info and support.
Glad Gaj has directed you to some info, the question of adding Riba or not comes up a bit.

At the top of the site’s page the ‘Search’ section if you type in “add ribs” or something similar you will find lots of posts about this topic and the references to the latest studies suggesting no benefit to + Riba.
Look for section Genotype Specific – genotype 3 – lots of discussion more specific to treating each genotype.
I suppose since all this is still pretty new using DAA’s, you could print out some of the research papers and show your Specialist and discuss the pros and cons of adding Riba to your Tx. it’s your body, your health and wellbeing and you ultimately should be the one making an ‘informed’ decision.

Wish You all the best with your journey :) #flower

I hope that my lightheadedness will go away now. It might take time, but I hope it will improve shortly.

So, Dan, sorry if I’ve missed this thread but did you have ‘light-headedness’ before Tx? Or is this something that happened during and post?

I have had it before Tx but worse during Tx – especially when I crouch down or bend over to pick something up, I become very dizzy, see stars, lose balance and need several seconds to hold onto something. I drink plenty of water and if I’m sweating profusely or GI problems and losing a lot of body fluid then I use electrolytes. It isn’t stopping this though.

My BP is ‘normal’ and that ‘orthostatic’ test they do – sit down in a chair and then stand up and compare – doesn’t work, because all my usual BP’s are taken while sitting, and it’s not the same as bending over/crouching down.
Are you anaemic – this can cause ‘light-headedness’.

Anyway, Dan hope it improves for you. :) #love

Chejai, I just had to say I really, really can relate to your story from beginning to end. From the troubling environment that led to aquiring hepc to loosing a sibling to substance abuse, to having to patrol my own temptation to drink more than what would be good for health. Walking along right behind you in tx. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mtgoat, I know it means a lot to me when I read stories from others that I really relate to, especially since it’s been such a lonely journey. I’ve spent a lot of my adult life alone, not sharing, not knowing anyone else with HepC and the reactions I would get from people when I told them :(

Congrats to Dan and Tina for their EOT #woohoo!
Gosh, Lynne and Ariel those BP’s are frightening, I really hope your Dr’s can sort out why. I haven’t had mine done since Tx, I forgot to ask last GP visit.

Ariel, so glad you were able to make contact with your daughter, hope she continues to be safe and well – wishing the same for all those there in Fiji devastated by this. It’s hard to get my head around “winds @ 230 km/p/h and gusts as strong as 325 km/p/h”!
A reminder of Cyclone Pam destroying Vanuatu last year – it’s always so heartbreaking, especially how isolated they become with no power lines and mobile towers, weather too wild to access by water or flight.

I’m always relieved but surprised how low the death toll is in the wake of such extraordinary devastation. So, I’ve been reading why and apparently it’s to do with the way the natives construct their huts and the materials they use. They have been living with cyclones forever, using lightweight things like bamboo and pandanus, woven together – not using nails and heavy masonry and not creating heavy pressure within because they’re porous. So, it’s the building materials in places hit by cyclones that cause the most damage and injury to people!
Also, apparently another big ‘saviour’ was SMS alerts, almost everyone has a mobile there and it proved to be the one thing to alert people to prepare themselves! That’s awesome :)

Anyway Ariel, hope you’re feeling better and getting a chance to get those results you’re waiting for.

    Sending you hugs and #love #love #flower
