GGT 50HYou really are getting to see so much Honker, feel for you re the sx. I’m ending week 6 and the past week I’ve been feeling horrid, crushing fatigue, headaches-develop into migraines, joint pain and flare-up of arthritis. it’s horrid when you have things planned to do and can’t walk from one end of the house to the other.
I’m very familiar with that ‘liver tongue!’ My stripe is still presentGood Luck on the rest of your journey

GGT 50HWow, kenbadsman, my son and I just took a Google trip around your amazing city – it is stunning! Breathtaking views, awe-inspiring architecture and just love the cobblestone streets and brightly painted walls, you’re blessed! That’s quite a temperature change in one day – not unusual for living in the highlands, I’m told – but still, scraping ice of your windshield in the morning and then glorious 28 degrees C during the day! That must require layered dressing to get through the day
We live in a pretty spot, on a small island close to the mainland but we just don’t have the history to enjoy such beautiful architecture. I have always loved Spanish influence, the bright colours, the use of crafted wrought iron, courtyards, and especially their churches.
Well, that was a lovely little tripAll the best

GGT 50HWell, reading many of these posts has got me thinking I should be tested for diabetes 2 or IR. I’m in week 6 of Sof/Dac and past week been feeling very fatigued, worse after eating – but this was pre-tx anyway – I’m not experiencing the ‘energy’ earlier in tx, I have had vicious migraines, intense for 4 days then subside to an intermittent headache that builds as day progresses and pounding by night, nausea, low appetite -forcing myself to eat because of weakness and dizziness, very thirsty all the time; suffering a big flare-up of joint pain and arthritis -fingers, toes and cheekbones (TMJ) very swollen.
Been very ‘brain foggy’ again and blurred vision still!I think I’ve read others say around 6 weeks they hit a slump – but ‘fogginess’ means I can’t remember where

GGT 50HGod, LG I can’t believe the BS you have to go through! So, they refuse to do your blood because you’re sick? Or it was on a different path request form? I remember when I used to travel down to the Public Hospital for my Clinic sessions and they’d send me off to their Path dept, sometimes the line was so long and I’d have to leave to get my special bus service back to the island – otherwise I’d be stranded. But of course the Path clinics wouldn’t accept that form; thankfully my GP (my ‘old’ one) would copy the request onto another form. Not something I could get done by the ‘new’ GP – that would be the on who refused to do ANY blood tests relating to my HCV Tx.
Being sick and having to go through that and come home with nothing and knowing you have to go through it again is bad enough BUT when you have unacceptable RUDE behaviour thrown at you and replaying in your head just makes it all so much more upsetting and draining.
Honestly, I’m reminded of the Posters in these depts about not ‘tolerating rude or abusive behaviour from patients..’ Well, I’d like to have a T-Shirt with some sort of slogan saying,”Rude, Abusive and Judgemental Behaviour from Staff will NOT Be Tolerated and WILL be Reported!”I feel for you, sending you Big Warm EHugs and lots of from Down Under

GGT 50HJohnny, I suffer horrendous migraines and have had 1 at w3 and then at w5 of Tx both lasting 4 days and I tried everything I could – painkillers either no relief or just a few hours; tried essential oils; voltaren gel etc, couldn’t shift it, resolved on its own.
I looked at that link you posted I hadn’t seen a recipe like that before – it seems a high concentration of salt.
I do use Sea Salt and/or Himalayan Rock Salt – because it is unrefined and contains other mineral salts, including Magnesium – which is often recommended for Migraines; the lemon Juice for Vitamin C – many people claim this helps reduce incidence of attacks but this is anecdotal, there’s not much research available to explain why.
I did find a lengthy research article on migraines and its triggers and it mentioned ‘high intake of salt’ as one! But Magnesium, Vitamin B and some other nutrients (shown to be lower in people with migraines) given in higher doses did help reduce attacks.I’m on Sof/Dac and have been sweating a lot and feeling dehydrated and drinking heaps of water = lots of ‘peeing’, which flushes out water soluble supplements.
I have started using the Himalayan salt to make an electrolyte drink – I put 2-3 crystals and a big squirt of lime juice into my filtered water bottle, shake it up, and sip away- especially next to my bed at night.
I’m waiting to see if it helps.I’d be interested in how you go if you try that recipe, it’s not the amount of lemon juice – that depends on the size of the lemon
2 tsp’s of salt seems a lot.Good Luck and if you find anything that works let us know

GGT 50HHi Ken, No Lemons But plenty of Limes how interesting ! Hey, Limes are awesome, I prefer them actually but soooo expensive here. I put a couple of sea salt crystals and a big squirt of lime juice into my filtered water bottle and shake it up hard and it’s a very refreshing drink, especially next to my bed at night. It’s been so hot and I’m sweating more from the Sof/Dac plus I’m always thirsty at night from other meds, I just reach over and grab my bottle and sip throughout the night
BTW, I checked your temps at the moment and it’s a bit milder than here – wow, you have really low humidity too.
Ok, all the best, I’m off to make one of those nice, cool drinks – it’s 35 degrees C inside!

GGT 50HHey Ken, ok Mexico, probably hotter than here!
Anyway, referring to your excessive thirst and water intake – I know there’s a thread about this elsewhere but I can’t find it now – i’m having a brain foggy day today hmy:
Talking about drinking too much water – if water isn’t quenching the thirst it can mean your electrolytes are out of balance.
You can make a home remedy, the ‘sports drinks’ are full of crap
I found this recipe somewhere – The most important thing is to use a good quality Sea Salt or Rock Salt, as it has natural salts in it, DON’T USE TABLE SALT because it is refined (like the difference between refined white sugar and raw sugar); e.g.Pink Himalayan Salt is good; also citrus juice is for the taste and vitamin C – you can use less or change it – e.g. make up some peppermint tea and let it cool and dilute it with this mix. I personally use much less juice and only 1 spoonful of honey and dilute it more. Apparently Coconut Water is a good natural electrolyte drink, so maybe include some of that in your daily ‘water’ intake.Homemade Electrolyte Drink
4 cups filtered water
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
1/4 cup raw honey or maple syrup (adjust for taste)
1/4 tsp. sea salt or rock salt (not refined table salt!)Happy Drinking – Here’s to trying to quench the relentless thirst

I know what you mean about the thirst, it’s also very hot here too, so excess sweating, probably where you are also?

GGT 50HYeah, Kenbadsman, as CJ pointed out there is such a thing as drinking too much water – hyponatremia which causes the sodium levels to drop too much and therefore ‘hold’ water in cells in response – apparently anything over 4 ltd a day. On average we need around 2.5 l, varies by size, sex and health factors. We get a lot of water from food and other beverages. If we’re sweating a lot, or diarrhoea, then we’re losing water and body salts which is why electrolytes are recommended.
I’m thirsty all the time too and have a water bottle constantly at hand even at night.
I don’t think i’ve been tested for diabetes, so I might get that checked.Like everything else – Moderation – you can have too much of a Good Thing
