Wow, Ariel is that pic the view from your place? Awesome, bet you get good waves there. I grew up in the Newcastle, NSW area and the beaches with the rocky headlands had the wildest surf – ahhh, not unusual to see bloodied faces/bodies emerge carrying their boards with a massive smile on their dial claiming how ‘f*****g UNREAL was that!!’

Yes, I was doing well getting a good night’s sleep for over a week and then this migraine hit during Friday night and I can’t shake it, worst night last night, tossing and turning, finally dropping off about 7 am and slept in. In lots of pain now, taking painkillers but can’t shift it.
Damn, I had so much on my ‘To Do List’, but it’s a veg out day today <img style=ick:' />

I’m on 16 weeks Tx for Geno 3a, Sof/Dac. Interesting we’ve both hit this ‘side’ (?) having a migraine at the same time.

Hope you’re feeling better soon #love

    Hi Chejai

Obviously people here, me and I expect the people who treat me where I work, would think your being made to feel bad for going to hospital for treatment stinks. Maybe the people involved need to rethink and carefully examine their own practice.

I can imagine what you witness working in the field Sabrecat and probably many people who just shouldn’t be working with the sick and vulnerable as DT so poignantly expressed.
One particular Specialist, I saw 3 times, would ask how I was doing and had I consumed any alcohol since my last visit. I’m always honest, a bit too so probably, and I always told him what I had. I know they ‘assume’ you’re lying and therefore ‘change’ the figure to their own guesstimation – I actually saw this on the paperwork and demanded to know why he was putting different answers to what I was saying. He would then launch into a rant about the damage I was doing and didn’t I want to be alive to raise my son etc., etc.I would end up crying my eyes out as he’d go on about how ‘disgusted he was working in this clinic and seeing how appallingly people treated their bodies. We were all representative of Western societies’ excesses …’
By the 3rd appointment this rant was really fired up and he said that he couldn’t take anymore of the patients he had to deal with in the clinic and was transferring to another area in Gastro. He wanted to know, as I’m sitting and bawling my eyes out, if I was serious about my health and wellbeing. He wanted to know what was my spiritual and moral standpoint, did I want his help because he could refer me to a psychologist who ‘specialised’ in such spiritual dilemmas – i didn’t think I was experiencing any spiritual dilemma but what did I know???
I hadn’t started seeing a Psych at that point, so I asked for more info. He started to write down some details and when he told me the location – a special clinic at his ‘church’ near the city, I told him I couldn’t travel that far. He launched into another spiel about me not being serious about my future etc. Then he looked up my address and realised I was on an island and all the BS involved in getting to the city. He said something else, trying to comfort me and stop me from crying and then suddenly became really cold and withdrew saying, ‘no, I’ve said too much. That’s all you have to go now, goodbye and Good Luck!’

It was extremely bizarre, inappropriate and traumatising because as much as I wanted to report him I was reminded of the last time I made a complaint in another hospital and what was ‘done to me’ to stop me from making it formal.

On the bus journey home as I started to process all that had been said in that session, and previous, and I realised his obvious religious persuasion and his attempt to ‘recruit’ me and the ‘special psychologist’s’ role would have been to ‘brainwash’ me.

Whilst I am a strong woman and have endured a lot in my life, particularly abuse in all forms, and like many when I’m stressed, upset and vulnerable I can’t seem to protect myself at the time. I take awhile to process things, I need to go to my cave with no other incoming stimuli and take it all in. He could see he was about to ‘hook’ me but even if I had of agreed, once I had time to process I would have seen clearly what was happening and bailed.
Yes, DT as you were saying dangerous people working with the vulnerable is a reality and often goes on indefinitely because the victims can’t advocate for themselves.

Hi Tiana, welcome and congrats on startingTx. I’m,Geno 3a, Sof/Dac for 16 weeks, Day 11 today. You sound like you’ve started out a bit rough with the sides but we are all individuals and will react differently but certainly relate to others’ journeys. I’m use to drinking water constantly 2+ litres p/d including through the night. If you don’t usually drink much water then it could be why you’re feeling so dizzy (?). I started out with intense sweats my 1st week, making me very dehydrated, that’s eased thankfully. Some of us have experienced ‘hyper’ energy followed by extreme tiredness, I certainly relate to the ’emotional’ roller coaster, joyful one minute and teary the next

Everyone here is very supportive and plenty of info at hand, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Good Luck and look forward to following your journey. :)

That’s awesome Ariel! Glad all things on the home front are still ok and hope the police are keeping a watchful eye on the pyromaniac little shits!
Day 11 for both of us :woohoo: :woohoo:
Same, energy during the day but not hyper anymore, making the most of getting things done because I crash in the arvo/evenings. A migraine today, but otherwise it was just an intermittent headache for about a week. Thank God sweats not as bad

Noticed a clearer more lucid mind creeping in, so used to brain fog.
Glad you are feeling good – you go girl! #love #flower

Honestly LG, that’s disgusting but sadly, too familiar for me here in Oz. I’m glad you held your ground and got through it but this endless judgement, prejudice and obnoxious behaviour we have to endure is outrageous. We are meant to be in the PC era (Politically Correct) and get constantly bawled out for using inappropriate terms for bloody everything – yet, something like HepC we’re still treated like pariahs by so many.
The Liver Clinic I attend in the Public Hospital has posters everywhere about staff not accepting verbal abuse, threats, intimidation etc (fair enough) yet I’ve still had to endure some Specialists ‘attack’ me and the general Hepc patient population for our appalling ‘lifestyles’ and treatment of our bodies!
Aaaah, yes, it’s time to bring out the

Hi Sabrecat, betacarotene ( a carotenoid) is the precursor to Vitamin A, it’s what gives carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, fruits etc., their yellow/orange colour, it is found in lots of greens too. It’s absorbed in the stomach lining and converted to Vitamin A (retinol) – a fat-soluble vitamin (like E), not water-soluble like B & C, hence Vitamin A and E are stored in the liver and fat cells.
Vitamin A is important for healthy mucous membranes (e.g. mouth, throat, lungs), skin, eyesight e.g. for night ‘blindness’, and the immune system. Betacarotene is not an ‘essential’ vitamin ( vitamins and nutrients not synthesised by the body, required through diet) but Vitamin A is. It is an antioxidant, betacarotene from food will be absorbed only in the quantity the body needs, but supplements can cause build-up if too high.

Some vegans who get carried away with juicing carrots can end up with a nasty looking side-effect of orange skin! So, can people who take high doses of synthetic carotenoids. It shouldn’t be taken at the same time as Vitamin B Complex because it reduces the effect of Niacin – vitamin B3. It’s suggested Carotenoids are better taken with Vit C, E, Selenium and Zinc. It is safer to take betacarotene (either natural or synthetic) than Vitamin A if you have liver problems because of the risk of Vitamin A build-up in the liver is very toxic.

It interacts with cholesterol lowering drugs e.g. statins; weight loss pills.

Smokers, apparently should be very careful taking it as a supplement because some research has indicated higher risk of lung cancer, since smokers are already at ‘high risk’ it’s difficult to analyse the reasons for this result. So, it’s just advised that smokers don’t take this supplement.

Therefore, given our HepC compromised liver function, it’s best not to take Vitamin A supplements and if you really aren’t eating your colourful fruits and veggies then betacarotene is safer.

Ok, enough of my waffling :)

    @chejai

Yes same, had Peripheral Neuropathy for few years or more (?). Started with numbness, burning in hands from Carpal Tunnel, got worse and then my feet, especially intense pain in heel. Woke me constantly at night and never able to get comfortable. During the day it was intermittent and then over a year ago I realised it was there constant 24/7, hands and feet. Had scans done, severe arthritis in spine means bone on bone pinching nerves – explained the shoulder, right arm/hand shooting pain, has secondary ‘crushing’ of nerve in the elbow; lumbar/sacral area pinches sciatic nerve and hence the shooting pain in legs and burning pain in heels. Dr said too many causes of peripheral neuropathy to know, I had asked about HepC but didn’t think it was related. I take Lyrica for the nerve pain, not daily as prescribed but when I’m really doing badly.
I note triggers – driving, mowing and whipper/snipping – the vibration of any tools in my hands cripples me afterwards, writing and typing and carrying heavy bags, anything requiring clenching of hands. I have to space out my activities to avoid days of incapacity.

So, maybe the 24/7 burning & numbness might be HepC related and could be free of it but won’t be free of the arthritis/CT problems.

I totally get the Doc’s point but also appreciate what others have said here. I’ve been here a few months and I’m still ‘finding’ threads I didn’t know existed. Having an ‘autistic’ brain (i.e. Asperger’s) I get overwhelmed easily and try to search for answers before I ask but forget so much straight away. I take things very literally, so if someone says, ‘look on the page in the left column blah, blah,’ I’ll desperately search the left column and not ‘see’ the one on the right.
Even this has been posted for a month +, just found it accidentally!
