I’ve never registered there. Send me the link 2b and I’ll go over and PM her. Do you think they might have some sort of keyword filter on their PM system? If so, I’ll have to think of a work around.
They’re total Gilead sucks that lot. And a bunch of fascist pig dogs to boot with their censorship policies.
It’s amazing what seeing those positive (or should I say negative!) results with their own eyes can do. No matter what they’ve read about it in the medical journals. As soon as that happens, if they have a skerrick of humanity about them, they will embrace generics with open arms. Likewise, any hospital that remains resistant after seeing the results you can assume is staffed by people with cold, dead souls.
One of the most refreshing things I have found about hep c treatment is the genuine excitement of the health care workers when they see for themselves how good these drugs are. I get the impression that almost as much for us, it is for them a breath of fresh air, a genuine medical breakthrough, that shines light into a job that comes with a fair share of discouragement and hopelessness.
The WHO has said they want to see HCV eradicated by 2030. But that clearly isn’t going to happen under current circumstances.
Whatever the hell 33.9 means 2b, it’s clearly your lucky number. Hooray!
I had just a quick look at the Gates Foundation site a few days back. They don’t fund first world projects which is fine. But man, funding hep c Tx in poor countries seems like it should be right up their alley. Plus, barring programmes falling prey to corruption or war, it’s very much a self limiting health strategy. Not like a lot of problems that have to be chipped away at for years and years or that recur regularly like famine. Once it’s done it’s done. There must surely be a lot of other large philanthropic foundations that should be grabbing this ball in third and second world countries and running with it for all they’re worth.
I don’t know if the charitable fund is able to be used outside Oz. But if it is, I think we may need to be a little careful about only being seen to help First Worlders. It’s a global issue. The overriding aim is global eradication. There are plenty in poor countries who can’t afford or get medicines even at Gilead’s special price. Not that it shouldn’t be used to help First Worlders just not exclusively. The dealing out of the funds will be a vexed issue any way you look at it seems to me. Glad I’m not the one having to make the decisions.

Hey Chester, what you said about the unease of taking the last pills …. I’m still almost 5 weeks from EOT and Sunday I refilled my 7 day container … the one I bought when I was with you at the drug store. Then I looked into the bottle and saw how few there were left in there …. and got this weird uneasy feeling. I’ve never experienced that before. I appear to have developed some kind of psychological attachment to these drugs.
I hope you explained to Harvey and Louie that they’re not allowed to like any of your new guests better than they liked me!
Oh yeah EOT was interesting. There’s 2 weeks of my life I’m glad are behind me. All good now. Gonna do a post about it. Be warned! The post treatment crash could happen to you.
Up the coast at the moment with latest US visitor (btw she was UND after 6 doses – think that might be the record).
And it’s Louis not Louie. He’s French!
Louis on the left, Harvey on the right. Sheep are Fat Guts, Barbie and Baldy.
Good news Kev. Glad it was all worth it. Kick back and relax and enjoy the UND to eot and hopefully beyond.

I know. Lucky huh? Now you might want to get treated or something.
Oh wait……..

Rather than the doctor telling 2b what the hell it meansIndeed.
I think the 33.9 is just the number you are above 1. Don’t worry about how high it is unless the doc says otherwise for the reasons I’ve said above.
I did the same thing bloot and my initial reading was the same. But then looking at it more closely I think that <1 is just indicating the range of what is considered a negative result. Depending on the test, I think if it was above 1 but under the relevant value in the hcvadvocate article he would need more sensitive testing done. Above the relevant value, he's just had HVC some time but not necessarily currently active disease. If my interpretation is right, all of us will always test positive to that particular test even after cure. In other words, it looks like they've not only failed to do a VL but done the most useless frickin' test they could come up with.
I hope the doc’s going to pop up and say we’re both wrong 2b but I think all they’ve told you is that you have or had HCV now or some time in the past. Which unfortunately ain’t exactly news.
I haven’t seen these sort of results before but looking at these links:
http://hcvadvocate.org/hepatitis/factsheets_pdf/antibody_test.pdf
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Hep-C-Test-result-S-Co-Ratio—01/show/1385507
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/going-to-doctor-tomorrow/show/288073The link from that Bill 1954 guy down the page a bit doesn’t work anymore but you can now find it here:

Bloot if that nurse is getting her info from someone claiming to be a doctor, you should ask him or her which cereal box they got their medical degree out of. Get a VL through GP2U and see if you can transfer to a clinic that actually knows what the hell they are doing.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
