That’s such great news Joy and what a bonus to get the Fibroscan results as well. Interesting about the SVR24 comments and it indicates their confidence in the DAAs.
Hi Ariel, Yay for Day 1 and moving forward with Sof/Led (my personal favourite!). Wishing your smooth surfing all the way…

Hi Apcail,
I’m really sorry you have had this additional stress when you are halfway there with your purchase of the meds via Greg Jeffreys through the Buyers Club. Expecially when you are keen to have the support of a specialist who initially seemed to be on board.
I also bought my meds through the Buyers Club and I am in my 8th week and on my way to being clear of Hep C. I had difficulty finding someone to support me where I live but to be quite honest I prefer to have Dr Freeman as my monitoring dr anyway. I defy anyone to find someone more knowledgeable and compassionate about this epidemic. I can have a consultation with Dr James via skype and feel totally supported. I haven’t had to do so but if I needed to I know that he is only a phone call away.
This is such a personal decision but please don’t feel that there are not options now to take your meds and Dr Freeman is such a good option to consider.
Hang in there.

Hi DT,
Thanks for the great explanation about the genetic markers. I am IL28B CT and I hadn’t fully realised the impact that these two little letters could potentially have on the outcome of interferon based treatment. Mid last year the Dr at the liver clinic was still recommending interferon with very little discussion about success rates and certainly nothing about the genetic marker which I just happened to see in a blood result.
It really is so important to keep yourself informed which is why this site and all involved in this adventure are so fantastic.
Cheers
CoralHi LG,
So pleased your Precious has arrived. I’ve really enjoyed hearing about the adventures of people from the old country (I was born in Sussex many years ago). Look forward to reading your updates. You’ll be feeling like Tigger soon….
Cheers
CoralBonjour Life,
Thanks for your great post and the joy that bounces off the page. Congratulations on the undetectedness of it all.
Great music clips…
Happy New Year indeed…Cheers
CoralHi 2b – thanks for the great visual. My internal fight is starting to sound like a Quentin Tarantino movie (or Francis Ford Coppola).
A white Christmas sounds pretty good to those of us sweltering in the high 30’s low 40’s Celsius but 30F below could be testing.
Somewhere in the middle would be perfect. While you’re by the log fire we’ll be at the beach or in the pool. Thanks for your good wishes and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Yay!!! A great Christmas present Spook!
That’s great news Joan! Congratulations!
I agree with you – I am also really pleased that I didn’t wait. It will take quite a few years to treat everyone and we now have those extra years back and the government can treat more people in the meantime.Hey Zhuk, CJ and Joy – thanks I think they’re doing the final battle right now!!
I am so happy to see so many Undetecteds and “On their Ways”.
I have my 4 week blood results and as much as I would like to join the Undetecteds I am in the Almost Undetected group.
I still have a VL of 58 (down from 2.5 million) and after an earlier post by Dr James it’s hard not to picture them as 58 tough little last defence soldiers in flak jackets and helmets. But they won’t win.I would be lying if I didn’t confess to a nanosecond of slight disappointment but quickly overtaken by the fact that the medication and my body has worked really hard to kill the lions share and I have normal liver function results for the first time in decades.
Anyway yesterday these results were enough to convince a resistant friend to start the process in the new year so they are indeed good results.2b mentioned about having a spring in his step and I know what he means…

“In the case of hepatitis C treatment, people could take matters into their own hands without waiting for governments. In Australia the FixhepC buyers club is working to assist individuals in buying generic drugs to treat hepatitis C, carrying out quality testing to ensure that they contain active pharmaceuticals, and importing the drugs for personal use.”
Thanks for the article Alsdad. It’s good to see FixhepC get a mention at an international forum. I hope we may have another champion in Dr Andrew Hill from Liverpool University.
“In the case of sofosbuvir, they found that even assuming a 50% profit margin for the manufacturer to cover capital investment and return to shareholders, it would now be possible to sell a 12-week course of the drug for $178.”
However much I read these type of figures the greed of the pharmaceutical companies still does my head in.

Undetected!!!! That’s great news Lynne – the very best Christmas present.
Enjoy your new status!!Coral
Hello! Great news that you have started your treatment and are well on the way to being HepC free. I know – it still seems like a miracle to me too. Love your positivity bouncing off the page!
Coffee is fine while you are on treatment and some (like me) would say it’s one of the pleasures of life
