Hi LG, I know what you mean, we have got used to long waiting lists with the NHS and also varying standards of care.
Hope your new consultant gets a move on.

Yes we are nearly there LG!

Thanks Ariel, yes tx buddies! :)
    A batch of us!

Alsdad, I know what you mean about sad state of affairs but I think it will change, albeit slowly. You were one of the first to go it alone in the u.k am I right? and that’s got to be hard, I couldn’t have done it. I have been lucky to have been able to push at what I sensed was a door that wasn’t locked, and am so grateful.

    Hi Jolie , Thankyou,
I Think this will become more common, the NHS monitoring. I am glad that our beleaguered health system isn’t having to pay the exhorbitant price tag for my meds.
How are you finding treatment these days?

Ha Ha, LG, like it! Why not? :)
Yes, we will be looking out for that postman next week!
Thinking about it I will probably take mine after my appt. on the 12th. They may take some bloods etc. And you might not be able to wait that long!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes! :)
Alsdad, I am northern but I don’t want to say anymore than that at the moment as I am very aware that my lovely consultant and nurse are going a bit out on a limb here and I dont want to land them in it so to speak. A few of us on here seem to have managed to get NHS monitoring though.
They do want to administer ribavirin though. I guess because NHS guidelines are 8 weeks Harvoni with ribavirin for non cirrhotics. I think they are re-considering as I am getting 12 weeks meds. I hope so!
Warm wishes to you all :)

    Thankyou!
Debs here, I must go and introduce myself on patient stories sometime instead of popping up randomly posting……..but THankyou! A million times! Am now happily waiting my Cipla meds after my phone consultation with a monkmed doc. Tim had phoned me before to say sorry it was a little late. They are so courteous and organised and polite. When the doctor said ” it’s an absurd situation and we just want to help people” I felt like crying.
    Thankyou doctor f and monkmed.
Aus may be getting sorted re gvt funding for hep c ( largely due to leverage re existence of buyers club I guess) but the rest of the world still needs you!

Hi all, just want to say – I am so excited for these Cipla meds coming! I have my monitoring sorted – I am on the starting blocks ready to go!!! The thought of living without these symptoms soon has just occurred to me! :)

I have severely dry eyes that I have to put drops in every hour. I’ve looked it up and guess what, a hcv symptom, attacks a gland or something. The thought of living normally without all the things this virus does to go around annoying your body…wow.

LG, just saying hi, I know I don’t post often here and I don’t think I’ve said it but I’m sorry you have such a crappy consultant. I think if they actually care it goes a long way, even if they do feel their hands are tied. You know my situation with my hospital and I’d just like to say I feel very lucky to have a consultant and nurse who genuinely care about their patients.
Good luck with your g.p today, and then you will be on the starting blocks like me!

I don’t think I ever introduced myself on the new bit, will have to do that shortly,
    Thanks, Deb

Hi Jolie, Thankyou for your info,
In answer to your question – I would def. treat with generics if I could get my NHS consultant to monitor me! And may still do it anyway monitored privately. Thanks, debs.
