Good to hear you’ve finished CC2B!
I guess SVR24 is the gold standard from a medical POV but it’s a long wait for those of us with an emotional commitment in the process.
Onwards and upwards to SVR whenever you decide to test for it!

Hi HTRJ,
Your stats indicate a 97% chance of SVR which is pretty good. (G3 chances drop quickly compared to others as fibrosis increases and with prior Tx which is why I’m on the highest Tx level). I’ll leave it to others with more experience of your situation to comment about extending treatment.
You may also want to consider Dr James post here though I’m not sure if it is case specific or applicable to all G3s. http://fixhepc.com/forum/gt3/861-alt-ast-ratio.html#14152
……to add your stats to your profile scroll to the top of this page and click on the Profile tab. Within there click on the Edit button on the right hand side and then enter your user password twice which will allow you to edit various fields including your signature panel right at the bottom of the Profile Information tab. Don’t forget to Save after editing.

Hi Ariel,
Remember how far you’ve come over the last few months.Calmer, more relaxed, better weight, better skin, more focussed surfing and I suspect, an increased sense of fun and the joy of life. Your LFTs show a very healthy liver with no signs of fibrosis. You lead a very healthy lifestyle in a beautiful and largely pollution free part of the world, while abstaining from the little vices. All these things point to a much better than the odds likelihood of SVR.
…..and in the very tiny chance that there is a problem, as Dr James says, there are plenty of options and you will be starting from a far better place than previously.
So relax, go and have a good surf and focus on all the marvellous things that have happened this year. Your SVR will take care of itself.

Hi Juen and welcome.
You’ve made a wise choice in avoiding the ribavirin which I feel should only be used for more difficult to treat cases due to the side effects. It’s a shame G2s are unable to access Daclatasvir as a standard treatment in Australia.
Looking forward to hearing how your treatment progresses.

Hi Cindi,
Fantastic news about your friend. And good on you and your husband for advocating for him.
First tests at 4 weeks is standard for most not prescribed Riba, but I’m sure your watchful eye on him will avoid the very small possibility of any issues. I’m sure that within a few weeks the meds will give him a new lease on life. And young J…..wow, time has flown. Sounds like he is getting on with life as someone his age should.
Best wishes for both J and your friend.

Hi FF,
Not medical advice so make of it what you will. You are short of both Sodium and Chloride probably because your fluid throughput has changed due to the meds but your salts intake hasn’t. A bit of extra Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt sprinkled on your food or in your cooking during treatment will likely do the trick.
LFTs look great though!

I’ve mention this previously and will repeat it again here. The Loyola study is NOT about:
“Improving Hep C Treatment Via Individualized Therapy”
If it was about that then they would be researching what is the treatment time required to acheive ~100% cure rate for each grouping.
But instead, they are trialling whether they can acheive close to the current sub optimum cure rates wth less treatment in some groups. The correct name for this study should be:
“More Cost Effective Hep C Treatment Via Individualized Therapy For Almost As Good Results”
Now I’ll happily concede that this is occurring because Gilead and others charge extortionate rates for these medications but please don’t try and convince me that it is being done in the patients best interests because that, in the Australian vernacular, is “bullshit” and we need to keep calling it out when these articles in the media spout it.
[Edit: LG, I agree your points about freeing more cash for other patients and there may even be less sides from shorter treatment though the trial didn’t seem very concerned about studying that. But this trial was driven by the ridiculous costs of these medications and it’s presentation in terms of being in the patients best interests is just pandering to continued overpricing by Big Pharma.]

On the subject of Prof Gane’s comment about those who are not F4, all I can say is that I was not F4 two years ago and was considered to be able to wait. The cliff edge of cirrhosis and its complications that I fell over 18 months ago suggests that was not the case!!!
