Wah, at 51, I get both, heavy period and hot flushes, for the same week. Was the same before treatment though.

Thanks Joy, I’m really hoping NZ do no deal at all with Gilead, and get generics. They deserve not one more cent. NZ has the ability, at the moment, to bargain for generics and often does- many of our medicines, for example generic thyroxine, is up to 10x cheaper for us than in Australia and US. We are all being fleeced all the time by these inhuman practices of big pharma.

Update to this, I wrote a letter to the editor just after the article to try get more publicity- unfortunately I was crook at the time, and they have edited out bits I wanted in like fix hepc website and Greg, but left my ribavirin rambling in without the ending. never mind, hepatitis headline might attract someones attn- and after Tina Hill’s powerful interview today with the NZ Hepatitis Foundation, the interviewer has posted the link to my story on their page. This is nebulous Govt support. Have attached my letter from today’s paper- hope it is readable

Cheers Angus, me too! F4 and cirrhosis 17 years, Treatment is going well with bloods, although I feel worse now after 6 weeks than I did all those years ago on int/rib. But, time will come, in a few months, when I have no virus and can get my poor wrinkly prune of a liver working better. Weight loss for me must help. Am doing well with that.

I’m geno 3a, 2x interferon/rib fail, virus 30 years, cirrhosis at least 17 years but bloods mostly normal until recently. Fibroscan 13. I’m about to get 6 weeks bloods taken for 24 week sof/dac/rib. First 3 weeks, I only had sof dac, and I felt A-mazing. Three weeks more with rib and I am active only in 30-40 min burst followed by bed 1 hour. Sleep about 4 hours max at night . But beautiful blood tests- at 2 weeks ALT down from 118 to 15. At 4 weeks, viral load down from 1.4 million to 24, and I’d only 6 days of rib by then. So I can endure, because its working, but can’t help but hoping new results coming in will let me off the hook for some of the 24 weeks if I’m clear say at 8 weeks.
