It’s a little different for women, but I have had to supplement iron for 20 plus years- since having kids, I guess- and I have tried and tried to get enough from diet, it just doesn’t do it, I know vitamin C needs to process it, I make sure of both. I had HCV 30 years- decompensating cirrhosis in 2015- been cured about 2 years and my liver is nearer normal, I tried not taking any to see if I absorb better now from food but no, not enough. The stuff the doctors can prescribe here in NZ is really hard on my digestion, she suggested years ago I use this health food shop one, is the best I ever had. If I take a couple or 3 of these per week, I stay right. http://thompsons.co.nz/products/search/?term=iron

Thanks Mar, tidied up now I think, but it is a work in progress.

I have made it into the news here again on the subject of drug pricing, US and NZ. This reporter has been great; it never says quite what I want , there is always something but it is all traction of some sort. She did these 2 stories a day apart.
In the first, one of my main motivators to study law finally was the prof in this story, with me and Trump,  so glad about that.
In the second, I get a couple of different messages and I like that I am backing up what the former head of Pharmac says about exorbitant pricing. The third one, this is a really mainstream commentator railing against the global drug pricing situation and pointing the finger. For enthusiasts only!

    Hi Kaju,
that looks fine to me, hardly any left at 4 weeks, I wasn’t undetected until 18 weeks on treatment and I was fine. I have seen many people do it, your test is good! I have seen people finish where you are now at 12 weeks and most are fine. You are winning the battle so far.

    Hi GillA
Despite my previously decompensating, cirrhosis being all resolved, and my liver looking as good as anyone else’s pretty much now, my specialist says- “will need 6 monthly scans for life to monitor risk of HCC”. I have one next week, but I must say , I still like getting them because it is so good to see, where I came from to now. I suppose I will get sick of it sometime, and I don’t think, myself, my risk is high at all. But, I’m grateful to get the scan and monitoring, when I see how hard it is for lots of people around the world to get the help they need. My local hospital has lots of issues, but in this, I am well served.

    Hi Cristine,
I can’t answer about your results and what it means but I can say- you are on treatment, so whatever is, already is; and really, it is how you feel, and how your liver is a few months after treatment that matters more than knowing exactly now…
You have probably heard or been told that there is irreversible damage possible- or certain, and that this will give you issues forever even when cured. As we say in NZ, yeah nah. I was told in 2003 after a biopsy that I was F4- it was a shock, I wasn’t that old then, young kids- but I trudged through. I reached liver decompensating in 2015- tipping over the edge when I found FixhepC and got cured. All good, but what about cirrhosis?
It has gone. Happened really fast for me, I was lucky, but I am now F0 except for one rough corner, bit of fibrosis in it. I am pretty much normal, probably better than a drinker my age. So don’t let the dread of numbers and scores worry you too much. There is nothing more you can do about whatever fibrosis you have now except fix it. Take the meds, drink the water, and let it repair from whatever starting point. Good luck!

Given that it is big news, yes I had seen it, but interesting that a Google search on Ukraine Gilead only turns up that one article you have seen, Rochv, there should be lots of them, it was a couple of weeks ago.
I looked for the article I had seen- found this one http://gapwatch.org/news/patent-on-hep-c-drug-rejected-in-ukraine-price-of-sofosbuvir-will-significantly-reduce/1038
by searching Sofosbuvir Ukraine but again, there should be lots more hits.

    Hi all,
I see your concerns, of course I would not use your words or posts without you offering them up, or wanting them included. There is really no need to tell me that I can’t use posts, I simply wouldn’t, and won’t. I am not intending to trivialise anything- quite the opposite, my intention is to convey the depth of experience.
I am involved in several forums, this is the only public one, where anything said is viewable by any person, anywhere, forever. Despite this, I will, and always intended to, treat it as a closed group. Relax! nothing about you without you. Thanks Rohcfighter for your interest. Your contribution will be highly valued.
