Thought I would post an update at 81/2 weeks. Overall I feel soooo much better.
I don’t have brain fog or nausea which left quite early into treatment.
The most obvious sides where fatigue and broken sleep with weird dreams. The fatigue has subsided somewhat. I am waking up feeling really good and clear headed and not dragging my body around with me and not feeling nauseous when I have the first glass of water in the morning. Most days I start the day able to do things without feeling drained. However some days the fatigue does come and hit me.
My sleep is so much better. Some nights I am sleeping 8-9 hours a night and waking up once and then going back to sleep.I have had a few other sides come and go. A week ago I had aching joints for a few days. Like the flu without the head or chest symptoms. That has passed. If I eat something a little oily or doesn’t agree with me then I do have a tight feeling in the liver. But overall that feeling has eased. I also have a pulsating heart beat, I can feel my heart beat very strongly and I assume its the meds.
My outlook on life is much more positive which I always tried to maintain but I am not trying it is just there. I am thinking about going back to work and am putting the feelers out and may have something in the pipeline.
I am looking forward to my future instead of feeling overwhelmed and wondering how I will manage to get through the day.I do have days when I am more fatigued but I try to rest . I feel like I now have a future which was looking bleak a few months ago.
Still can’t manage how to get a smiley so please imagine lots of smiley’s. (have tried to tap/drag n drop n cut n paste)
Thank you to Dr. James and Fix Hep C team and to all of you who post and are on the journey with me. Its reassuring to know that I am not alone and others are travelling this road.

Just to clarify I made a few enquiries at the clinic regarding my Genotype and I am GT2b also my viral load was Undetected which I assumed was 0. So thats clear. The finer details of this language is fairly new to me and I am learning as I go via this forum.
Also recently learnt how to do my signature. Still trying towok out the smilies. Thanks to all of you

Go to a very supportive GP.
Explain the difference between Ribavirin and Daclastivir and how the body responds and the side effects.
Explain that there are GT2’s who have and are responding to Sof/Dac and at 4 weeks have responded UND.
Insist that you get a script of Sof/Dac and that you have done your research and if they are in doubt ask them to look at FixHepC website and look at the facts around treatment for GT2’s on Sof/Dac.

thank you for that information. I read the link you sent and it was very informative. I do eat eggs and fish but I haven’t eaten meat mainly because I just can’t stomach it. I suspect I may have candida which could also impact on the lack of Taurine. I have taken B complex vitamins for years and when I started treatment I stopped taking them. This could be the reason I have the strong heartbeat…I have 4 weeks on tx to go and I will start taking the B’s again just to see if there is any difference.
The information you have sent is really helpful. All the best for the New Year.

thanks for your post. When I approached my nurse regarding what I would need for my script (Sof & Dac) she suggested Sof & Riba and that they could supply me with Ribavirin at minimum cost, however I had done my research and decided to purchase Daclastivir as it has less side effects than Ribavirin. I would rather pay than put my body and mind through the possible sides effects of Ribavirin.
She along with my specialist did try to access both Sof and Dac on compassionate grounds, however the drug companies declined.
I am GT2 F3 and V/L 0 or UND at 4 weeks. Today I am now 8 weeks into treatment and specialist decided to skip 8 week bloods. I will have them at 12 weeks. So I am one of those GT2 who at this stage has cleared the virus on Sof & Dac.
I have no answers as to why GT2’s are to have Riba as my specialist agreed that Dac would be fine.
All the best for the New Year

Alt Week 4: 14 Ast Week 4: 28 VL Week 4: UND 7.12.2015Its been great to read these posts. I too have a strong heart beat. It started around 2-3 weeks into treatment (Sof Dac). I can feel my heart beat very strongly its not beating fast but I feel it pumping away. It comes and goes during the day. Thats the only symptom. I had my BP taken at the clinic when I had my 4 week bloods done and it was the same as before tx. I didn’t mention it to the nurse at the time but at around week 5-6 I rang and mentioned it to her. She passed it on to my specialist and he suggested if I am concerned go to my GP as its not related to tx.
My feeling is that it is related to tx although I am not sure how. I am on week 8 today and have had broken sleep most of the time. My sleep has improved but still broken just not waking up as often. I figure that puts a stress on my body. Also I have a foreign drug in my body and that is impacting in many ways. I am hoping that the strong heart beat will go once I finish meds. I have decided not to go to GP. If my BP was noticeably high then it would have been picked up at 4 weeks test.
There is comfort knowing that others are experiencing this as well even if their symptoms vary from mine.

Thank you all for your well wishes and support. I hope you’ve had a good Christmas and a good rest. I had a good Christmas the best in years because I feel better. I ate some things off my diet “hey its Christmas” and now feel a little foggy and tired. But well worth the indulgence. I feel confident my energy will come back. Its very erratic. One minute I feel good and start planning all these things like going to get a job, maybe will drive down to Melbourne for NYE or whatever and the next day I feel tired and wonder how the hell will I be able to manage a job let alone a 10 hour drive. The roller coaster hey!! But its good to have the possibility of a future…
Sleep is getting better. Generally I wake up early but I am not waking up five times a night. Just rolling with it.
Wishing you all a healthy and HCV free 2016.

Alt Week 4: 14 Ast Week 4: 28 VL Week 4: UND 7.12.2015Hi Lynne
I haven’t got on paper my results regarding the viral load. My nurse rang me with the results of my week four bloods and I think she said virus undetected which I assumed was 0 viral load. When I saw her she confirmed it was 0 viral load.
Last week I read a post from Dr. James regarding how to read the viral load and Gaj has shared the link. I also read in a post (could be the same one) that HCV can come up in blood tests for a fews years to come but the viral load will say undetected which means clear.
I am no too concerned about it. I will discuss it with my nurse when I see her. I am going by how I feel and overall I feel better.
My sleep is still effected. Although I don’t wake up every hour I still wake up early but I have to roll with it until I finish meds. Some days I can take on the world and then the next day am low in energy. There is no consistency with my energy levels. Although I have clarity and none or very occasional brain fog which I lived with all the time. Also the nausea has subsided. Its not as consistent and I have a better appetite. I think I may have put on a bit of weight which I could well do with.
The sleep disturbance is difficult. As Gaj mentioned try to rest when you can. When I can I have dosed in the day especially the last couple of days and when I am too tired I go to bed early.
I had high expectations that once I felt better it would be consistent and its not like that for me. One step forward two steps back. I have had the virus for 40 years and I have to get the healing process into perspective. I expect it all now!!
Another thing is that I have been on a strict diet and over Christmas I had a variety of foods that can affect my health and it has. I am more fatigued at the moment and a little foggy. I
I hope you’ve had a good break over Christmas and a chance to rest. All the best for a HVC free and healthy New Year!!
