hi Desley & welcome to the forum,
Great you’re on tx & getting rid of HCV, congratulations!

Doing 10 hours a day of physical labour would have a severe affect on any healthy person, never mind on someone with liver disease & on serious medication. Are you being monitored by your doc ? maybe is a good idea to have full bloods tests done to exclude other concomitant health problems such as hypothyroid, anaemia, heart problems, just a few conditions springing to mind that could manifest as tiredness & breathlessness.
Is your liver disease advanced? fibrosis? cirrhosis?
I hope you’ll feel better soon,

Thanks Sharky for starting this thread about Geno 3 & everyone else for contributing your experiences.
It’s something I was thinking was a good idea to do but decided to wait until I actually receive the rest of my meds ( Dac) & start to treat. I can see Fedex has my Mesochem meds on Stansted airport UK, so almost here, it has taken like 4 days from China to the UK, love Fedex! I ordered the scales & my vegetarian capsules from Amazon & hopefully will start tx some time next week.

Experts say that Geno 3 is more difficult to treat as compared to other genos…I say lets prove them wrong !

I reed that Geno 3a it is the second most common genotype worldwide after Geno 1a & 1b, it is common in the UK & apparently AU as well.

    hi Wilko,

I totally agree with you, as I too had a good response both from my GP as well as NHS hospital consultant concerning using generic meds.
At the end I did not need to use my GP, as my consultant agreed without any difficulty to monitor my tx & do all the tests at the hospital.
He already ordered all the bloods for the whole of 12 weeks tx & just had all my base bloods done.
The only thing that is halting me to start tx is waiting for my DAC to arrive as there are huge delays, I already sourced Sofo from India, but been waiting now 3 weeks for DAC & it still did not arrived.

So talk with your GP or consultant, you never know until you do. Some will be OK with monitoring some will not.

So, the new ALLY 3+ is different to ALLY 3 because of the sign (+) that stands for Riba addition to the double DAA tx ?

    From the article:

“Hepatitis C’s genotype 3 can be hard to cure, but researchers presenting a study at the Liver Meeting (AASLD) in San Francisco, CA, said they have found a regimen that works. Vincent LeRoy, MD, of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Grenoble, La Tronche France, and colleagues at other institutions reported on a trial known as ALLY-3+.

Fifty patients with HCV-GT-3 were treated and most had already had other treatments.
The patients got daclatasvir (Daklinza/Bristol-Myers-Squibb) sofosbuvir (Sovaldi/Gilead) and ribavirin (Rebetol/Merck).

One arm of the group got the combo for 12 weeks and showed SVR4 rate of 88%.
A second group took the drugs for 16 weeks and their SVR4 rate was 96%.

    There were no virologic breakthroughs.

In an abstract presented at the meeting, the team concluded that the combination therapy “Achieved high SVR4 rates” in patients with HCV GT3 with compensated advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis “and was generally safe and well tolerated.”

    Thanks Deb,
No, it is not up North, it’s down here, only a bit north of London.
I did not do anything different or special then just simply asked if he would help by monitoring me as I sourced & paid for my own meds & will be treating soon.
I did say they are generic meds but are safe & have been tested & gave the link to the blog on this forum & mentioned Doc James & his trials.

I did not expect anything so was very nicely surprised when he agreed to it. I did it all by email.
Maybe try to do the same with your consultant? you never know,
I also am not the first one here to be monitored on NHS, there is another member on here who’ve done almost the same, although I understand she initially saw the Doc privately but later had all her tests done on NHS.
My plan was to source the meds first & then organise monitoring, even privately if everything else fails or to use the private blood test clinics to do my own test, plan A,B,C.
Did you decide to treat with the generics as well?

It looks like I won’t be partaking in the free tea & coffee & plush carpets at the private hospitals after all as my lovely ( & very handsome if I might add….) NHS specialist just agreed to monitor my generic tx at the NHS hospital, cool :cheer:
I totally did not expect it & was really nicely surprised, he was even slightly apologetic in his email that the hospital could not offer me the tx I wanted now & for all the waiting.
A really honest & decent guy, that answers my emails quickly, sends me copies of all the test by post, he even explained that because he does not have a private practice he could not offer me a private script.
He never suggested I speak to his secretary, I don’t even know his secretary I just write him an email & he writes back promptly.

I feel really lucky to have him to support me with this tx & sincerely hope he is not the only decent NHS consultant in the UK willing to do so.

All I need now is just the rest of my order ( DAC) to arrive in post & am all set to go, hopefully to start tx next week!.

Please don’t worry, I won’t be mixing anything myself. Said that the med I have in mind is already approved with combination of Sofo it,s called Velpatasvir. The trials have been all already completed, best so far tx for Geno 3,
I already suggested it to Doc James as possible Redemption 4′

Is it really as simple as buying API on Alibaba ?
There is one API I have my sight on for geno 3 to add to the mix sold in China, I mean is that all it takes ?
I did check the company looks very big & reputable making medicinal API.s

Because if it is as simple anyone can make their own meds…..& mix anything they like

Maybe it also depends on the area where you live ?, maybe in London which has enormous population you do wait longer but in other parts of UK you don’t ? I looked it up in my area & the private hospital where they take the bloods is around the corner here, so ideal for me to do the tests if my consultant & GP would not want to support me.
I never used this company before, but have been to that hospital a few times & the service was always excellent plus they serve free tea & coffee! so def. worth the trip.

    hi Em,
Yes, I’d be a bit upset too, at the same time your liver functions & other blood tests were very good, so I believe it is only a matter of waiting a bit longer for SVR. :)
As you said you could have F3 fibrosis & also you’re tx experienced, I’m in the same situation, so due to this we probably need longer then 12 weeks tx & even add Riba at some point?
I was wondering if one can add Riba half way through the tx ? to assure best results ?

    hi Henry,
I think there is no need to panic. Both Rachel & Greg always respond within 24-48 hours, at leasts they did when I contacted them in the past couple of weeks, they never ignored any of my emails.
If you’re based in the US I assume there could be a significant time difference between China, Australia & where you’re located in US ?

have a look at the world time calculator here:
    http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

Yes, do give it a bit more time,
what is changing on the 15th ??

    Hope this helps,
