I learnt a few things. Interestingly, where I have recently feeling discomfort, liver area, is where I have the least fibrosis (right side associated with liver) – In fact, the fibrosis I have, is more on the left side of my liver.

All rather mind-blowing one way or another and I feel grateful and honoured to be part of this research. I really hope this goes on to help many more patients with non- invasive liver disease diagnostics in the future. – These people are doing awesome work :+1: and we are (according to the Doc) “20 years behind other conditions / diseases (such as heart disease eg) in diagnostics, treatments etc “Well, I told him the patient perspective, but I’m sure he knows that ;-)

Thanks Zhuk, Yep, you were right, MRI was easy and kinda cool ! The Doc there said it was the “Rolls Royce of MRI machines with the Luis Hamilton of operators scanning me” .

Debs, it was a pretty amazing experience. This new technology is pretty awesome, so glad I did this. It was part of ongoing trials for this new diagnostic for liver disease. I will post more about it in the week as I just got home and am pretty tired, but amazingly the (top) Doc said my liver is in pretty good shape considering . I saw a full colour scan of my liver (spleen and other stuff too!) – Never knew how far round to the left the liver went and how big it is! Getting my report in writing next week and will post more, but at this point in time, my liver is looking pretty healthy for someone with HepC. Just need to kill of those little ******* virus left.

LMS reading of 1.5 (range between 1-4 anything over 2 pretty concerning) and get this….. Also had a fibroscan to compare which has gone down to a frankly mind blowing <6 !!! I actually can't remember the actual figure, I was so stunned, but it's either 5.2 or 5.6 !!! All I can think is, healthy diet, no booze etc but my instinct is the meds helping liver function has caused this.

Pretty emotional really after the cirrhosis scare - Got a bit teary talking to the lovely Doc .

I need VL to go down to UND now for things to be much more hopeful - let's see what happens hey.

    Big #love to all .

(edit) Fibroscan machine showed an 'accuracy of reading graphic" (something else I learned) - It was pretty accurate :)

Hello Dr F, I have read much patient experience regarding this, have a friend on VPak detectable EOT and told he’d failed only to go on to clear at 3 months post tx – Interesting. Is there ‘any’ sort of pattern appearing?

I know, re coffee !! Arggg! but I am used to drinking loads of a morning, albeit mostly decaff since on meds with a small spoon of caff. I do wonder if I’ve been ‘flushing’ too much , you know?

Also, what is the thinking behind drinking lots of water? Flush again? Hmmm Is it flush to avoid sx? or flush is necessary for helping kidneys? I know a specialist nurse (Infectious diseases) he said when I started tx ‘Don’t over-hydrate’ … Does make you wonder .

Sounds like a good plan Tina, good on you and my best wishes for it all going well, xx

I am in cafe withdrawal, no morning coffee near taking med, allowing myself small cup 4 hrs later – Wah wah (as Ariel said) – The thing is coffee is a cleanser, Good for liver with HepC , but on meds?

Resistance testing needs to become more accessable to my way of thinking, but I’m not getting anywhere with that here in the UK.

We have not decided which tx to extend with for definite or for how long. We’re waiting for nxt round of tests and will make a decision week 10, which gives it 2 weeks for the meds to arrive safely  Sofo/DAC has been mentioned.

Know what you mean re this thing taking up so much of our lives and those around us, really be have to have an iron will and to be so strong ! At times I find it exhausting mentally & physically. Anyway, onwards we go. Both GT1a and Sofo/Led. Maybe we should compare lifestyle habits in case there’s a pattern. (small pattern!) I was wondering whether I drank too much coffee in the morning and was also over-hydrating, Drs think with me I may have low absorption, but you seemed to absorb your meds ok, right from the start. I don’t think we can really know unless we have genetic testing and it shows resistant genes, you know? Maybe sometimes it just doesn’t work and it’s the luck of the draw. Anyhow, yes, we go forward – As I am extending, we can keep each other company heh :) #flower

Yes, I had VL 68 at 6 1/2 weeks, will extend tx. and getting another VL done soon.

Just goes to show how unpredictable it all is what with you being <12 most of the way through.
Will you do DAC or Simeprevir maybe?

The thing is, I would want to know 'why' I guess. Dr F told me some people have natural resistance to Led, but there don't seem to be many options for testing for those here in the UK anyway unlike in the US, Surely this would be a helpful thing if considering another round of tx?

Anyway, looking fwd, for you, keep the faith xx

Hi Tina, I am sorry to read this news this morning, I can see why you are feeling gutted.

I have read that alot of people are not UND in small numbers at EOT but many still go on to clear.
I have a personal friend who was on the Abbvie who was 15 EOT and 3 months later was clear, he spent 3 months thinking he’d failed. Are you going to have another test at 4 weeks? Yesterday I even read of someone who had low figures at 7 1/2 weeks post tx and went on to clear!

Not trying to put false hope on you, especially after such a disappointment, but just so you think about testing further down the line, to be sure. (No doubt you have).

I am a slow responder on Sofo/Led and there are concerns here too, so I understand how you are feeling.
Sending you the biggest hug and I’m sure Dr F will know what to do for the best and sort you out.
    #love
