    @londongirl

    NHS seem reluctant to even consider anything not on their approved list

    Unfortunately, this is true, in general. But… Many will keep an eye on you, albeit “quietly”…
    You can’t really blame they if it’s against the rules, but often they will help out when the time comes.
    My advise, is not to push them too hard on it in advance, just turn up to next appointment and tell them you have started treatment. It would be rather unethical of them to refuse to monitor and there is a “duty of care”.

    There have been some very supportive GPs . Mine was. I took Dr Freeman’s GP cheat list along with me and told my GP I had done much research and “made an adult informed choice” and was “taking licensed medicines via a trusted supply chain on an official trial”. He agreed. I was so nervous asking, but he was great about it. I think some GPS have more leeway, but the tests they order often aren’t as thorough.

    Good luck. :+1:

    Hi Sven,

    I would take the advise of Gaj above and go through a trusted supply chain that many of us here have followed by taking the advise of Fix HepC and their partners MonkMed.

    I have treated via this route and am now cured.

    Please do contact help@fixhepc.com (Australian time zone) or care@monkmed.com (US time zone) They work together and can treat you safely through the Redemption Trial with licensed Indian medicines. They can also offer excellent Dr support throughout treatment via Drs Freeman and Dr Debasis. MonkMed can also advise you re receiving the medicines in the UK as I did. They can arrive very quickly (around 3 working days) so you wouldn’t need to be here for long, maybe a week or possibly less and there are cheap flights if you have a UK address for delivery by FedEx.

    Good luck, I’m sure it will all be fine if you follow the advise of the people of Fix HepC.

    Hi Nads, Alot on your plate – Well done you!

    Not sure I’m qualified to comment, but I do know Dr Debasis doesn’t recommend extra meds without alot of consideration.

    As you know, I did the 24 weeks, actually it turned into 26.5 one way or another, and I have had the desired outcome after an initial slow response.

    Drs D and F are the ones to offer the best advise, without doubt. Hopefully Dr F will see this post and come back to you soon .

    Sending BIG #love to you, I hope you have some practical support going on there with all that’s going on?

    LG xo

    @londongirl

    Thank- you Dr F, sabrecat and ftz :+1: :+1: :+1:

    I hope those who read my (rather long!) blog can gain confidence and faith in taking this pathway to better health.

    Not so long ago in the scheme of things, I was extremely unwell, incredibly underweight, could hardly walk, terrified and looking at a minimum of 6 months Interferon/Riba/Boc or Telap (Ugg) treatment with a low chance of success. I knew it could possibly finish me off. This is not drama, but the truth as only I could know how I was feeling, even if some (not all) NHS Drs (with the exception of the great Professor Dusheiko) thought otherwise and didn’t take my symptoms seriously. I was struggling to work as it was and there was a risk of me losing my job and therefore home on top. Never mind the other symptoms. My emotional state was also extremely fragile with the worry of it all.

    I especially hope any patients who have a slower response like me to treatment and are not supported by their healthcare authority with the optimum treatment, advise and monitoring, can gain hope and faith from my story.

    I truly believe that the pathway I took, was not only a ‘good alternative’ but a superior one.

    The advise and outstanding care I have received from Drs Freeman and Debasis has been nothing short of amazing. Without a hint of the pompous, blythe and condescending attitude of some NHS ‘consultants’ , one who didn’t show for my 1st long awaited appointment leaving a note saying he ‘didn’t want to see me’ after I physically struggled to get to the appointment.

    Thanks to Dr Freeman’s amazing official trial and trip to the Barcelona liver conference which gained EASL support, things have become much easier since those dark days with more and more UK hospitals ‘quietly’ supporting and indeed, worldwide.

    There are still some nervous medics worrying that some meds could be not up to scratch and this is why I suggest it is extremely important to go through a trusted supply chain such as MonkMed / FixHepC as I have, where we know licensed Indian medicines are sourced legally and correctly with the utmost care and correct procedures and have quality support from caring Drs who are not held back by bureacracy, financial restrictions, and other questionable reasons.

    I say this to all those living with this horrible condition, you have come to the right place and I, along with 90%+ other patients, have been fixed ! and I have faith that % in the ‘slow-lane’ will also be fixed.

    I wish good health and happiness to all !

    LG
