Hello Balance, I don’t think there is another site anywhere in the world with more information about Hep C than FixHepC, thanks to the vast knowledge of Dr James and the experience and camaraderie of the good people in this forum. You’re in good hands :)

Interesting statistics Rohcvfighter. I’m quite curious as to why Gilead’s sales numbers have dropped so dramatically in 2017, the demand is still huge. Is it possibly because insurance only treats patients with severe fibrosis, and the number of these patients still left untreated is getting smaller year after year? I wonder what the real reason is.

Hi Trublue85, welcome to the forum. As Hazel said, the new medications are really amazing. Their side effects are very mild or do not exist in most people. So don’t worry, as long as the medications are from a trustworthy source, they are most definitely working. After completing the first 4 weeks of treatment, your first monitoring blood test should also confirm that, your virus load at that point should be substantially lower or undetected. Best of luck.

That’s useful information Kaju, thanks. I think you made a very good decision by starting treatment as soon as you could, your liver will thank you for it. Best of luck to you.

The # 0 rule seems to carry the most wisdom :P

Like Dr James advised, getting rid of the Hep C virus as soon as possible seems like the most urgent thing to do John. Then you can worry about weight loss and the fibrosis, there is a lot of evidence that the liver starts reversing the fibrosis on its own once you get rid of the Hep C virus. Weight loss is then going to hasten that.

Congratulations Chattypie on the dramatic fall in your viral load, it shows that your body is responding well to the medication. We’re all looking forward to hearing news of your SVR in the next few months, best of luck.

Hi Kaju, you’re allowed to bring your medication with you into the Netherlands if you have your prescription according to the Netherlands Tax and Customs Administration website https://www.belastingdienst.nl/wps/wcm/connect/bldcontenten/belastingdienst/individuals/abroad_and_customs/restricted_prohibited_import_export/medicines1/medicines

Hi Kaju, as Beahavan mentioned, for most people, side effects in the last month of treatment aren’t usually an issue. Regarding traveling with generic medications, which country are you traveling to? Traveling with just 1 bottle is not a problem in a lot of countries, especially if you have a prescription with you.

What a feeling you must have felt when you read that “Undetected” word on your report after 14 long years! Congratulations!
It’s very interesting also how the liver starts to fix itself as soon the virus is gone, as evidenced by the substantial improvement in your fibroscan reading, that’s really great.
