Excellent information Dr James, if it happens, it would be amazing news for a lot of people, about 350 million of them. It would be another huge breakthrough in the fight against viruses.

Thank you for this upbeat post Seedy, it provides plenty of optimism for Hep C patients no matter how advanced their liver disease is. With the huge advance in the treatment of liver related ailments that has taken place over the last few years (e.g. Antiviral drugs), the prognosis looks excellent for the vast majority of patients.
I wouldn’t go broke on lottery tickets though, your good fortune has more to do with scientific advances than pure luck

Hi Pacific, very good to hear that after just 2 weeks of treatment, you have more energy than you’ve had in years, and that your ankles are no longer swollen, that’s the miracle of modern Hep C medicines. It’s a very encouraging sign that your body is reacting well to the treatment. We’re certainly all rooting for you to finally get rid of this terrible virus after 40 long years, please keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Peter, welcome to the forum. Have you had the expensive test (HCV RNA PCR, Quantitative) 6 months after finishing treatment? If you did and the result was undetected then you’re cured and don’t need any more tests (unless you’re worried about reinfection). If you hadn’t, then Dr James Freeman should be answering your question soon.

Hi Caravan1990, welcome to the forum and best of luck on your upcoming doctor’s appointment. Here is an additional post by Dr James regarding the brain fog issue in Hep C patients https://fixhepc.com/forum/experts-corner/2144-hep-c-brain.html#27830 , it’s very real. The good news is that all patients who were successfully treated and cured from the virus reported that the brain fog problem completely disappeared.

20 September 2019 at 1:14 pm in reply to: Cirrhosis and Resistant Hep C – New Symptoms are they serious? #29463Hi G, I’m glad that you’re following the doctors instructions to the letter, even if it’s a bit difficult at the beginning. Hopefully it will be completely worth it at the end, and as Sven said, the treatment/cure will checkmate these sleepless nights. I understand your pessimism, especially since your work in suicide prevention, but being more optimistic can help with any difficulties during treatment, after all, on paper you have a 96% chance of cure as Dr James noted.
I think you’re doing just fine on the forum, I can’t think of anything else that you can do. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations Karen on finishing your treatment, and also on your liver enzymes result, it looks great Things are definitely on the right track for you, especially with your blood count and iron deficiency issues resolved, I think you should feel quite optimistic about your test result 12 weeks from now. Looking forward to excellent news from you.

Hi Lawal, welcome to the forum. Could you please re-attach the test results file that you uploaded? It was accidentally deleted, thank you.

4 September 2019 at 11:47 pm in reply to: Cirrhosis and Resistant Hep C – New Symptoms are they serious? #29414Hi Barry, yes please post the name of the alternative medication to get reassurance that it will be OK to take with the new treatment. As far as the timing of the NZ re-treatment trial, Dr James is the one who may be able to give you a time frame.

Yes, please talk to your GP about how far down and how fast you should step down off Seroquel. He may even switch you to an alternative medication altogether just for the duration of the Hep C treatment.
