I once asked Rachel at Mesochem if she sold simeprevir and if so, what was the price. Her response: “We sell simeprevir, but not simeprevir sodium”. Turns out plain old simeprevir can’t be absorbed by the body. It has to be processed further into “simeprevir sodium”.
I think the Mesochem ledipasvir is perfect. So is the dac. Some people have far different reactions to meds than others. I took generics for four weeks, then switched to Harvoni-no difference. The generics nailed the virus in four weeks-just like many if you are seeing or about to see. I can’t be used as a reference because I finished up with Harvoni. Not because of worries about generic quality, but because I had fought my ass off for two years to get them
Why would a company like Mesochem go to the trouble of making something so complicated and not make it right?
I think Gane is a “company man” giving us the “company line”. They can’t attack our system, so they attack the medicine. In a very few months, they will lose that opportunity when all the SVR 12 tests start rolling in. This is Gilead’s Battle of the Bulge- their primary weapons are fear and disinformation.
Its a long way from Arkansas to NZ, but fear-mongering seems to work wherever its practiced.

Mike Galbraith, a high school teacher in Arkansas
took generics with the support of his physician. It’s too
soon to know if he is cured, but so far, he’s on track.
Fortunately, he had the resources to obtain generics,
which is not a choice for those with limited incomes.
However, it horrifies me that it was his only option.
There is something deeply wrong when a person can’t
get treatment for a curable disease because health
plans decide who can and who can’t. However, we
wouldn’t be in this position if hep C medications were
more reasonably priced. Maybe insurance companies
should think about branching out into travel medicine?I wonder who that guy is…….

7/07/16 UND SVR 24Hi,
I agree with Wayne-there is nothing to be scared of with these new meds. OTC cold medicine affects me more than these did. Honestly, if I hadn’t known I was taking something, I wouldn’t have known I was taking anything.I experienced mental issues as a direct result from HCV. Primarily, anxiety, stress and extreme anger & frustration that led to the verge of depression. Also, my wife and elderly mother were driving me crazy with their worry about me. Its all they would talk about when I was around. I finally resorted to Lexapro. It fixed me right up. Didn’t worry about anything, even the things I needed to worry about. Its a month of hell to get on and not pleasant to get off. I’m halfway through that process now.
I am glad I did it. It made working possible and kept me sane. (I think I’m sane….)
It’s not for everybody though.
Good Luck.

I am keeping my Mesochem shipment package and paperwork as well as my Harvoni bottles. Whenever I feel a little down or rough around the edges, I can look at them.
Or, when sanity starts to take hold in the drug pricing world, I can show someone the Harvoni bottle and say this used to cost $33,000…
Happy four week test!

7/07/16 UND SVR 24Good points GAJ,
My acute bout lasted close to a year. I was up on a ladder with and I didn’t think I could climb down. It happened instantly. Went from feeling absoluely great to being bed ridden in the blink of an eye. I went to the doc and told him I was dying. After a year of tests, the diagnosis was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome-no HCV back then-and the treatment: prozac. Trick your mind into thinking your body isn’t sick….
Hell of a deal looking back.
One consolation J, HCV picked a bad time to take up residence in your liver.
It can be hammered into oblivion without a whole lot of fuss and bother now.Mike

7/07/16 UND SVR 24Hi Tommy,
Good advice here.
I sent you a PM.
Unless you are f-3 or f-4, you will be waiting a lot longer than for your insurance to kick in for coverage.
Fight for you coverage if you like,
I just got the generics and got well while I did it.

7/07/16 UND SVR 24Hey Skank,
I finished January 14. My energy started coming back about halfway through the first month of treatment. A lot of my fatigue was due to not being able to sleep. How are you otherwise? How did your overall blood work come out?
Mine were all in the normal ranges for the first time ever.
You should begin to feel better as you recover. Your body has been fighting hard for probably a very long time. It will probably take bit of time.
Good Luck,

I’m very lucky. This is from another post of mine, but fits here nicely. Can you “self-plagiarize”?
I have a great GI now at the top liver center in the state. When I told her I was taking generic APIs and compounding them myself, she asked if I would still allow her to monitor my tx. She must be related to Dr. Freeman. They could offer some other docs a professional development course in compassionate care.
Anyway, she said I should test at 4 week intervals until the virus was UND. Then, get the “big one” at 12 weeks post tx. She also said I could test at shorter intervals if it made me feel better. She is 3 hours away, so my GP orders the tests and sends them to her.
It is so simple. Why can’t other doctors and clinics be as caring?
