cdmazoff wrote:Hi CD here from HepCBC. Thanks to all for sharing your stories. We are getting a lot of requests from people who want to import treatment, and our biggest problem (here in BC and I suppose the rest of Canada) is getting a physician to oversee the treatment (bloodwork, monitoring for complications –for example, I am cured now!!!! —Harvoni–but my 4th clinical trial was with Zepatier and it triggered atrial fibrillation and I was pulled off although it was working against the hep). So, how does a person who successfully imports the drugs into Canada proceed via getting blood work done? Here in BC everything is done through Pharmacare… or, is there a private pay option?
Anyways, a roadmap that we can share with people who ask us what to do would really be helpful
All the best

Sorry to hear that your Mother relapsed again. As splitdog says Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir (Epclusa) + GS-9857 is an option that looks excellent for the future although there may be others available now that would suit genotype 1b.
However, as four treatments have already failed her and noting her cirrhosis status, I would recommend that she seeks further expert advice by making an appointment for an international (Skype) consultation via GP2U Telehealth https://gp2u.com.au where her history and medical records can be reviewed in detail and recommendations made. Dr James Freeman usually has appointments available on Friday’s but other doctors there could assist if those days don’t suit. If you have further questions for GP2U their “contact us” details are here https://gp2u.com.au/contactus
Have u started retreatment GAJ?

Perhaps this is a simplistic suggestion, or a course of action you have already taken…. If I were in your shoes, I’d be booking an appointment with Dr James to help sort out the dilemma.
Whatever your decision, you now have options and good ones Splitdog.
I think Sof/Velp is good even with presence of RAVs. Probably just need to do the treatment a bit longer.
splitdog wrote:Just thought I’d share– I asked about an HCV RNA NS5a resistance test and it is over $900 USD. They said they could do a cash price of $748. This test is specialized, not many labs can do it, and it is not cheap!
Can buy a 12 weeks supply with this $$$
