Dr James amended his initial post here, LG…now its from Jan-thru-March. I’m guessing the RVR trials bumped the timeline forward a bit

Count me in as now ready for the trials…my meds arrived yesterday :cheer:

Amazing to think how much $ is represented in those two innocuous bottles…I feel incredibly fortunate to have this chance at a cure (and to those who have done so much, you know who you are and what gratitude is owed…and immeasurable thanks to Dr J)

Now, to wait for January…patience not being my strong suit :) lol

Damn! that’s unfortunate news mike…wouldn’t surprise me at all if pressure has been applied somewhere.

But there must be some way around it mate. By “institution”, people were already doing some “creative labelling” of their US orders, right? Wonder what this new proviso specifically means

    Ouch!

“Report Includes Landmark Release of Medicaid Data: In 2014, More than $1 Billion Spent by Medicaid Programs on Sovaldi Treated Less than 2.4 Percent of Enrolled Patients with Hepatitis C”

What staggering numbers left untreated. And to think it didn’t need to be this way, but for unfettered predatory pricing…

    I agree, GAJ.

The cynic might even suggest that knowing CJ’s friend has hep-related brain fog/comprehension issues that she seemed to want to cut the more lucid person out of the conversation, where they might take more issue with her attitude. Bad enough that she would treat any patient with such disrespect, but even more so a person who has such serious health problems to contend with…independent advocacy is definitely the way to go.

Yep, nuance is everything in our peculiar dialect, as GAJ says. For instance there are probably at least 200 different ways to say “mate” which can have widely varying inferences depending on the inflection :) Lol

I think GAJ has a great suggestion too Cindi, in the light of such recalcitrance by both the specialist & nurse…its just appalling the way your friend has been treated, and in such an offhand way…and to say you don’t know what’s in generics? Seriously. I’m scratching my head to work out why you’ve had such a different experience at the clinic to mine  But your friend definitely needs some kind of organised advocate on his behalf, to get a bit of traction with the system.

    All the best of luck.

    Hey Chejai,

Sorry you’ve come up against another dead-end with your GP & the specialist…its the same thing so many of us were told, same old broken record.

Yeah I might not be “severely ill” either, but who wants to wait until they have sickened to that point? when surely its goitta be easier to be cured before that stage. It just does your head in, doesn’t it :pinch:

As for ‘Feb’, on the hepaustralasia boards they’re saying ‘May’ now – and who knows how much longer? Doubt the Govt is going to beat Gilead down to a price cheaper than 50K and then it will be triaged…and those not “severely ill” like you and me will be at the end of a bloody long queue.

Of course certain specialists will want to talk up the idea that only they are capable of prescribing & monitoring people…where’s the power in their status otherwise? but I doubt any GP in the country is going to be as experienced and knowlegable as Dr James. Find somewhere you can get a fibroscan, get your stats and get onto the doc…take the power back from those who would prevent you from having control over your own health.

To that end, I got the magic parcel from the postie this morning – incredible to think how much $ those two seemingly innocuous bottles represent! I feel so fortunate and grateful to all concerned, especially to members here and Dr J for his tireless efforts to help us all beat this scourge. Can’t wait tor January and the trial start (and I thought I was impatient before) :)
