    Hi

    I’m on Day 2 of tx in beatiful sunny Tasmania. I am spending time outdoors and wondering if anyone has experienced sun sensitivity on sof/led. Or if there is any info on it?

    Hi Honker

    Sounds like you are having a wonderful time, in response to your question – when I first started taking Sof/Led for the first couple of weeks I found my eyes were very sensitive to the light and sun. This has now resolved itself as I got further into treatment. I got a hold of a eye spray Optrix Acti Mist which you spray on your eyes when they are closed and it worked wonders. Instantaneously I felt the difference :cheer:

    Hope you have got a good quality sunblock as the Tassie sun is strong (much like here in NZ).

    Hi Tina,

    Thanks for the tip. I did feel some sensitivity in one eye this afternoon but faded quickly. I am using SPF 50+ very liberally. Loving the relaxed atmosphere and fine weather, a very nice break from Hong Kong.

    Hi honker,

    I’m on Sof/Dac but much the same as Tina for the eyes, didn’t really notice any difference for skin. But as you are a visitor spending time outdoors a warning is in order regarding intensity of the sun and UV here. It is fierce even in Tasmania and on cloudy days and we have the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world so please wear suitable clothing, sunscreen on exposed areas and polarised sunglasses. Please have a read of below for suitable advice.

    Hi GAJ,

    Thanks for the tips. I am taking the UV advice to heart and will break out the very dark glasses tomorrow. I have protective gear with me and will be wearing it.

    Hi Honker, great to hear you’ve started Tx. I’m on Sof/Dac and have had terrible sun sensitivity with my eyes and skin (week 4 now). I can’t go out without a sun visor and sunscreen. Be very careful in Tassie, the sun can be ferocious, I got 2nd degree burns when I lived there briefly, another lifetime ago!

    I am normally a sun worshiper as I am of mediterranean descent. But all of you have convinced me take a more sensible route and stay covered. Much appreciated.

    What many people don’t realise about Tassie is that it’s much easier to get burnt than you think.

    If you look at the UV index for Hobart

    And then for Sydney

    You can notice several things. Yes the extreme period for Sydney from 12-2 is a little wider but other the very high and high periods are very similar.

    The significant thing is that because it’s cooler in Hobart so easier to be out in the Midday sun, whereas in Sydney the heat encourages you to seek shade.
