    Hi all

I would like to know if the red blotches on the palms of one’s hands are caused by inflamed bile ducts or by cirrhosis or is my liver still inflamed thus causing inflamed bile ducts. Is there any thing I can do to reduce this inflammation. I finished 6 month treatment in February, SVR12 in October and definitely undetected in June. Should I have another viral load blood test. kindly berrinice

Hey Berrinice, I also have these, sometimes they seem to get redder and then sometimes they’re ‘quieter’. Would love more info on cause etc. but I did read that they don’t go away once you have them & nobody really knows why.

What are the symptoms of blocked bile ducts? I know Prof Dusheiko noted my palms with concern, way back when….

    Warm wishes, LG

I read that its caused from inflammation of the bile duct which is another cause of cirrhosis to the liver. Itchy skin is another symptom. Its usually genetic and autoimmune. I have always known its associated with liver disease but not specifically an inflamed bile duct. My next gastro doctors appointment is December. My disappointment is that there is inflammation still happening and probably the liver isn’t repairing. kindly berrinice

Here’s a list of all the things cirrhosis causes with pictures and diagrams

Thanks. So the red blotches aren’t all that important as long as there are no major other symptoms. It can simply mean liver dysfunction eg slight elevation in LFT. kindly Berenice

On your skin red means more blood under here, so a liver spider elsewhere would be a red palm spot.

If you are well and your LFTs are good….

    YMMV
