    @radover

    My aunt had breast cancer and she did Mastectomy, after that she had Chemotherapy and the result was that she is completely treated.
    Now she found out that she has Hep C. Is it safe to get treated using antivirals like (sofosbuvir+daclatasvir or harvoni) now?
    She finished her chemotherapy about a year and 10 months ago. Her liver is in a good shape except for a little bit of fatty liver (not much).
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Radover,

    Your aunt will have no safety issues taking antivirals. You can actually give them at the same time as chemo and the SVR12 (cure) rate is the same for the Hep C.

    With a liver in “good shape” the treatment should be straightforward.

    For most patients with Hep C treatment delivers meaningful real-time improvements in quality of life as well as long term benefits.

    YMMV

    Beating breast cancer can be hard. Compared to that, with the new direct-acting antiviral medications, Hep C is a pushover!

    My situation very closely mimicks your aunts.

    I treated successfully breast cancer in 2016 with surgery, chemo and radiation
    Then 2 yrs. later treated my HepC successfully with a DAA regime and everything went well .
    Both my Hepatologist and Oncologist advised me at the time there would be no safety issues .

    Good luck to her.
