I am already ten days into my regime of 12 weeks Sof/Dac.

Firstly I would like to say a big thankyou to Dr Freeman for all he is doing.

My question today is about the side effects I am going through.

I had Diarrhea once on day three. Since then I have been slowly feeling more and more side effects. As expected they are flu like symptoms. I felt like I was hit by a truck for two days but now I'm just getting over that but have a runny nose and feel rather weird in my stomach. I get very " spaced out " especially after the first couple of hours.

My real question is.....
Do these side effects generally fade soon or am I likely to feel a bit off for the whole twelve weeks?

Forgot to mention that I am only fifty three kilo. This may be why I'm feeling it.

Do you have a hep c nurse or some health worker you can contact? Side effects seem to be very individualistic. There are 3 people (myself included) on this forum who haven't had any side effects yet. I'm just about at the end of week 5. If you know Greg Jefferys blog

His side effects didn't kick in for several weeks. The hep nurse at Royal Hobart said some people were having side effects mostly fatigue, nausea and sleeplessness.

I wish I could say more to reassure you but I don't know how concerned to be. But if you get really worried before Doc Freeman shows up here i would urge you to err on the side of caution.

Also can I ask, given your weight, were you already quite debilitated from the hep? I would imagine that could be relevant.

Thanks for that. I suffered fatigue and giddiness but my numbers were pretty good, F1 good bloods.

Incredibly, Dr JF rang me while he on a short interstate holiday. What an amazing man. He did this of his own volition.

He has explained a few things to me and I'm confident this will pass. We are organising a few tests to be sure.

Hi I am almost 4 weeks into the Daclat/Sofos regime as a Geno 3, and my side effects appear to be getting significantly worse.
The main one is severe fatigue and muscle weakness. I have also become very sensitive to smells and odours .
Overall I feel like I am a bit poisoned. I have not really taken much refined drugs most of my life, so I dont know if this is the issue.
When I get the capsules out to take the smell really alarms me as it smells like poison. I am having my week 4 bloods done at the end of this week so will see how it is all going, I am a bit worried as I must return to work tomorrow and am feeling very poorly.
Are there any other people on this regime that want to share their side effects?

Interesting. They sound like common side effects from what I've read.

I have taking drugs before that smell awful in particular Antibiotic's, am no sure about the side effects.

I am starting the same treatment regime shortly I'll update in a few weeks.

A little sore everywhere but much better than the previous four days.

I am too. Yesterday i rested the whole day had severe joint pains and severe fatigue. Just ate some vegan raw foods and drank about 2-3 litres of water. I also wiped Iodine all over my abdomen! Woke this morning feeling so much better. Not clear yet but not as bad as last 3-4 days.

Great news.
So it seems these sides will fade. Let's hope so.
I will be keeping people informed of course.

Strange that you mention that your capsules smell. Dac doesn't have any smell. Where are your capsules from, Ann?

Hi I bought them through Mesochem China, and had the pharmacist encapsulate with lactose

Lactose should not smell, should it? I don't know because I did capsules myself and didn't use anything to bulk it up. Do you think it would be worth testing your capsules through Dr Freeman'S lab?

Now the very strange thing Iis today they do not smell in fact nothing is smelling bad to me. Also my energy has improved greatly though not better yet. From before I started the drugs up until yesterday my sense of smell had become so acute that anything chemical etc was abhorrent to me. I just opened my bottles of drugs and cannot smell anything! I was so weak yesterday as an accumulation over 4 days or more and all I did was rest eat clean food paint some iodine on my abdomen and take 2 doses of iron as my last blood test some time ago showed low iron so I thought this may be contributing to my severe fatigue. I cannot tell if these symptoms were from the drugs but I truly have never felt so fatigued with deep joint pain and hypersensitive to smells. I look forward to hearing from anyone else who is experiencing side effects .
