Halfway there!

Day 42 of treatment today. So I thought that I’d reflect on the ride so far.

Tricia registered her nursing notes about moderation and maintaining treatment notes, while Gaj and Beaches declared their addiction to coffee and advised, together with Coral and re-roll, no need to avoid it. They neglected, however, to give me advance warning of the rabble on this forum.

At one extreme, the Honky Tonk Woman gives me Joy with her warm wishes, and then at the other extreme a pie loving pirate threatens to make me walk the plank, and rip the throats out of my footy team, simply because her team lost to mine recently. Then, a tribe of degenerate surfies temporarily stunned me with a psychedelic cossie, hijacked me, and took me to some rock in the Hep C free world that Matt knows of, where you can go surfing with elephants. Now, that was one hell of a trip. You won’t get that on a Contiki Tour.

Thanks guys for putting a smile on my dial every day.

I was planning to be a strong bronzed Aussie and tough this ride out on my own. I’m glad that I changed my mind and joined the forum. The warm support given by all of you has helped me a lot more than I imagined.

Here’s one of my favourite comedy skits. I hope that it puts a smile on your dial.

Hi GT2 and welcome from another "2"...I've been away from the board for awhile just busy with life, now that I have all this extra energy I didn't have before, but having a chance today to check back in to see how all my lovely comrades in arms are doing...so happy to see everyone doing well, the playlist going stronger than ever, and the new folks like yourself just getting better and better. Congratulations---

I was here early, before the shipping to US was a sure thing so I put myself on a plane from NY to Sydney, drove up to Kingswood, got my pills, started eating them on the spot and then rode all over the east coast up into Qland, then stuck them in my carryon with other assorted medications and walked thru US customs..miss it down there...Emilio was a HUGE help and positive support for me before, while and after being there. Love you all. Keep it going!

Hi 2b

Good to hear from you. While doing research into treatment options I read a lot of your posts on this forum. Your treatment success, and that of the other GT2s on this forum, was the reason I decided to go down the generic SOF + DCV path. Thanks for helping pave that path for me.

I’m glad to hear that all of your extra energy has enabled you to get busy with life again. I’m looking forward to that! I’m feeling better and better as every week passes. We are the lucky ones who were infected with the HCV genetic weakling in the HCV genotype playground. I hope other GT1s and GT3s are not disheartened by our relatively quick clearance rates. We are just plain lucky. The DAAs will get rid of their HCV RNA … just takes a little longer … but it will happen!

Thanks mate, from the GT2 newbie to the original 2b (veteran). #love #love

Six laps completed and 6 to go. No major mechanical problems to report. I’ve been watching my emissions since DCV is blown out through the exhaust pipe … no spluttering or backfiring … nor colour change … so all good. I go for a spin first thing in the morning, add a litre of water along the way, have a quick wash & wax, and then pop my pills. I wait an hour or so, while topping up with more water, before fuelling up. This is my daily routine and I never misfire.

The only minor mechanical problem is a slow water leak. My fuel tank seems to have been sabotaged with sugar and, together with the SOF, has caused a minor water leak. The resulting unplanned pit stops have slowed me up a bit. In an effort to dilute the sugar in my fuel tank, I been increasing the revs of my motor for longer in the mornings. So, lately it’s been head down, bum up, headphones on, and revving along to my favourite tunes.

This sports car sincerely thinks that half of the reason why the first 6 laps have been trouble free is due to routine revving of my motor every morning. The release of endorphins afterwards gives you a great positive feeling similar to that obtained by morphine. (See www.webmd.com/depression/guide/exercise-depression) It’s nature way of rewarding you for your effort.

If you haven’t revved your engine for a while, it’s best to see your mechanic beforehand to make sure your motor is up for it. However, in the interim you can simply start by taking a drive around the block every day. One thing is for sure, you’ll feel much better than if you had stayed parked in the garage. Go on, do yourself a favour!

Well said Beaches

The Steppenwolf classic should be adopted as a theme song to encourage everyone to get their motors running ….

Speaking of Wild

We have had some wild weather here over the last two days with strong winds and 6 metre swells. I’ll have to get some more shots of the big surf for the Vicco pie loving surfing pirate babe … that’ll cheer her up. In the meantime, I hope that she gets a chuckle out of this one …

Scraggly Beard the pirate didn’t enjoy surfing anymore because he couldn’t hang 10 on his malibu and, being a lefty, his leg rope kept on slipping off. He tried to change is stance, to that of a righty, but he couldn’t stand the likes of Tony Abbot and Donald Trump. So in an effort to keep active, he’s taken up Pirate Pilates.

Here are two shots of our sunrise here in WA yesterday… the first one looking down the freeway in Perth, and the other taken over the canals in Mandurah 70km south of Perth. As the old saying goes (some say sailor instead of shepherd):

Red sky at night is a shepherd’s delight
Red sky in the morning is a shepherd’s warning

This is for all the Kiwis out there.

Love the Finn brothers … especially when Tim eventually joined Neil in the Crowed House line up … great music! #love

What you are saying about the brain fog, GT2.... I can so relate!

Did not realise how much this was impacting me. It feels as though a cover has been lifted off my head.

My day job is an IT manager for a bank, and compared to a couple of months ago I'm in beast mode!!! I always get good performance reviews but I didn't realise how hard it was - well I thought it was normal. I often had good ideas but wouldn't say much because i knew I didn't have the energy and drive to see them through but I am really noticing the change. My boss is too and great guy that he is he is loading me up a bit, great guy that he is (he really is a great guy).

It really feels like being reborn, hey?
