Hi,
The ledipasvir needs an acidic environment to breakdown and be absorbed properly. So, acid reducers 4 hours before or after dosing. According to Harvoni packaging info, omeprazole (Prilosec) should be avoided, famotodine (Pepcid) is not mentioned.
Makes sense, since Prilosec takes a while to begin to take effect.
I was taking both and another custom compounded med for my horrible dyspepsia. It gradually got better after a year of no alcohol and animal fats. I love bacon. It was guaranteed to give me violent reflux, bloating, nausea and belching this tasteless white foam. It got so bad, I would eat food one day, knowing I would be up all night with dry heaves and reflux you could choke on. Then totally fast the next day and get some sleep. I had two endoscopies to determine the cause. Gastritis. I was a regular drinker with a cast iron stomach until I turned 60. Then, BOOM! Then best relief was to walk. Walk until the food and foam settled. I walked a thousand miles that horrible year, mostly at 2 or 3 in the morning. Good news is no high blood pressure and a resting HR of 50bpm.
So, I haven't had any problems at all, during or after tx. I do have a beer along. One very good, locally made, very tasty, very potent bottle of Farmhouse Ale.
I don't think I will ever be able to eat bacon again. The thought of driving the porcelain bus pops up every time I see or smell it.
Oh well, I'm sure the pigs are happier!
