The Getting Treated drop down menu towards the top of the page will cover many of your most immediate questions but: For ease of UK access, probably your most suitable option is via the Redemption eTrials fixhepc.com/redemption-imagine-freedom-from-hepatitis-c These will result in supply of HCV generics manufactured by pharmaceuticals companies that are well known to the UK medical establishment for their supply of other generic medications. You will also gain access to the Monkmed team to provide HCV related medical advice during treatment. Please feel free to post in the forum if you have general questions that members may be able to answer while for specific Redemption trial questions your best option is to contact This email address is being protected from spambots. I'm pretty sure Monkmed guarantee to get it to you (they Fed Ex it) as part of the redemption trials. Also you need to start off by making an appointment to get your script from GP2U. Hope this helps. Any questions, please ask Cheers Geno 1a, F1, tx naive, had it 35 yrs. Thank you - I eventually found the redemption trial application link so my next question was how do I get the script!?! Do I have to pay for an on line consultation to get one or can my GP here write out a private script from the UK? Alternatively can my friend who is a doctor in Australia simply write me a private script? My hepatologist here in London has agreed to monitor bloods because bloody NHS England can't get it together to offer everyone their legal right to treatment! The UK's laws on import of prescription medications are quite liberal, the main issue seems to be getting UK doctors to write scripts. Your GPs script will be fine and I assume would be based your hepatologist's advice as to type and length of treatment? Otherwise a script from an online consultation with www.gp2u.com.au or your Australian based doctor would also work. In those cases you would need to supply your medical history for HCV including genotype and liver fibrosis stage, etc. That your Hepatologist is prepared to monitor is great news. Really pleased that another person is getting NHS monitoring for generic hep c drugs! Yay! If you have to go through Gp2U for a script it's very reasonably priced, can't remember exact figure at the mo. Geno 1a, F1, tx naive, had it 35 yrs. Yes my consultant did go and he was also very impressed with fixhepc. I don't think he can officially saction by-passing the NHS but is more than happy for me to use the generic versions from India. Even though NICE have approved the new Gilead high priced regimens in the UK, NHS England does not the budget to treat everyone, so it is being rationed on the basis of either those who shout the loudest - or those with higher fibroscans. Despite my LFTs and fibroscan being normal i suffer the most debilitating fatigue. I also keep suppressing my VL to very low levels - I yoyo from millions to (at my last count (10,000). there was one 12 month period in which I yoyoed between totally undetectable and a few thousand VL like clockwork every three months! My Doctor friend in oz is nervous about writing the script - is there anything he should know? The following user(s) said Thank You: Debs | |
