I didn’t notice the thermomenter at the time (not sure how I missed it!) but I had followed the same process as GAJ and when I got to the “Leave a message why this donation is special to you” part I typed in FixHepC in the “other” box so that makes it pretty clear.
I just checked and it’s up to $6,526 right now which is great.Coral

8 December 2015 at 3:40 am #5478Im with you Paul – lets make this Christmas generous in heart and honour the spirit of FixhepC – a movement which affirming human value – not through status, colour, theosophy or orientation – but according to need – has sought ways to kindly and safely preserve the welfare of many.
We have received two precious gifts –
1 Access to life saving medicines and compassionate medical support – through its affordability, convenience and safety
2 An opportunity to do something that is truly meaningful, that matters.. We can help lift another human life by contributing toward the welfare of those for whom this access is less affordable.

ALT 2616 December 2015 at 5:38 am #6410I just donated to the fund, but when I got the receipt thing on my email , I think it was just to the HIV one.
How do I know that it went to the hep C people?I’ve got nothing against the poor HIV people, but I feel a lot of them are cashed up & specifically wanted it for our heppers.
hmm

24 wks SVR yeeaa!!16 December 2015 at 5:53 am #6413Yes you need to pick “is this donation for someone special” or something like that. Then a number of choices with buttons next to them will appear. Choose other and type in FixHepC.
Try emailing them to see if you can get it fixed.
Just as an aside, this way of directing the funds does seem problematic. I’ve got nothing against the HIVers either but if people are donating to fixhepc then that’s where they want to see the funds go. Is there no way this cannot be made separate to the HIV donation process?
16 December 2015 at 6:01 am #6415OH! hmm.
yes I totally agree Chester.
There are others like me who aren’t that great with doing stuff on computers.I’ll try emailing them but will also make another donation, I’d rather do without some things & feel I may have helped the cause a little, especially those war vets, feel so sorry for all those guys suffering so much AND a lot of them suffering from HCV from no fault of their own..
Thanks for the help Chester.

24 wks SVR yeeaa!!16 December 2015 at 6:40 am #6417The notification email I received didn’t specify FixHepC either, CJ. I don’t think it matters though, I’m sure our donations went to the right place.

ALT 2616 December 2015 at 9:06 am #6420Hi all,
The receipt doesn’t specify FixHepC unfortunately.
If you go back to page two of this thread you will see my admittedly rather rough 123 rundown of how to do it and how to check your donation ended up in the right place.
Hope that helps.

So ended up doing 2 donations, but worth it

24 wks SVR yeeaa!!16 December 2015 at 1:30 pm #6435I rang TasCAHRD,on 03 6234 1242 – explained my error – assured them that in future I wouldn’t waste their time – now knew how to direct further contributions independently – but asked whether on this occasion they could ensure the funds went to FixHepC Buyers Club. I felt a bit mean doing it because the funds wherever they go Im sure would be toward a worthy cause.
However, had a brief conversation with Ellen, the Head of Finance & Administration, TasCAHRD. Tasmanian Council on AIDS, Hepatitis and Related Diseases – a very gracious person who immediately understood, directed the funds and sent me a confirmatory email.
Yes if I had read Dr James post I would have known what to do, but I had not engaged the thread from the beginning.
17 December 2015 at 9:27 am #6516Hi All,
tasCAHRD have created a new dedicated location for HCV donations:
https://www.givenow.com.au/fixhepc
This will ensure that these donations are directed towards HCV only.
YMMV
