Hi all, and to anyone experienced with taking sol/dec.
I was wondering if the solvadi and declatisvir is best taken with food .
I am taking compounding chemist meds from Kingswood Pharmacy-generics.
It seems the online researched drug companies info says with or without food is fine.
But some other forum threads on fix hep c , say to take them on an empty stomach- to get best results/absorption uptake.
I have for a 4 days been taking the meds with a medium glass of milky yogurt! -then having dinner /food an hour later.
*And no nausea etc side effects so far.
I thought to take these pills with something rather than nothing may be a good compromise i.e – to line the stomach -to maybe avoid nausea..but also not take too much food -to aid with better absorption /drug uptake.
Thank you all!

For me,I began taking in the morning but then I changed to nights. I didn’t take with food particularly, just with water in the morning, also at night. Dac/sof does did not rely on taking with food on an empty stomach. Dac/sof seems to be absorbed differently to led/sof. I think you do need to be aware of the food contraindications however. These are documented on this site. My dac/sof was Mesochem. I did not ever experience nausea.

.forever grateful to fixhepc13 April 2016 at 11:37 am #15394Hi Juen,
I take my Sof/Dac when I first wake in the morning then have my morning walk (45mins) to pick up milk and a paper before breakfast. While I suspect it maximises absorption, for me it means I don’t forget to take them as they are first task for the day. I haven’t had any issues with nausea with the Sof/dac. (Riba is different and I take those with my food)

20 September 2016 at 1:45 am #23133I’ve been taking mine after food in the afternoon, the food was the advice of my liver nurse!
What is the recommendation? It seems a good idea to have food before taking medications? Hope I’ve been doing the right thing….day 15 today20 September 2016 at 2:19 am #23139I think it depends on the meds. I had mine just before bed. That worked for me, only forgot once and got up super early because I remembered in my sleep

Cured baby20 September 2016 at 2:36 am #23142Hi Donna,
With or without food is fine for Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir. As I noted previously taking without food just suited my routine best and I didn’t notice any problems taking them on an empty stomach. Others have felt they were better off taking with food. The only caution is in the Daclatasvir instruction sheet around taking it with a large, very high fat meal which may reduce adsorption a bit.
Effect of Food on Oral Absorption
In healthy subjects, administration of a daclatasvir 60 mg tablet after a high-fat, high-caloric meal (approximately 951 total kcal, 492 kcal from fat, 312 kcal from carbohydrates, 144 kcal from protein) decreased daclatasvir Cmax and AUC(0-inf) by 28% and 23%, respectively, compared with fasted conditions. A food effect was not observed with administration of a daclatasvir 60 mg tablet after a low-fat, low-caloric meal (approximately 277 total kcal, 41 kcal from fat, 190 kcal from carbohydrates, 44 kcal from protein) compared with fasted conditions [see Dosage and Administration (2)].

So as long as you don’t make a habit of taking them with a Large Big Mac, thick shake and Sunday meal you will be fine either way.
