    Welcome Muir,

Yes, Dr Freeman can write you a script so the buyers club can import on your behalf
unless you plan on flying into Australia you will still need a script from a Dr in the UK.

Any questions feel free to ask.

I had a 30 min video appointment with Dr Freeman last week, which was extremely helpful. Clearly the situation with the Buyers Club is very new, and evolving all the time. I’m hopeful that I will be able to get 12 weeks of Sof/Dac through the Club in the near future, but I’m not counting any chickens.
The attitude of my Consultant & my Doctor disappointed me, when I mentioned generics they both reacted as if there was a really bad smell…more interested in doing things by the book than in getting me well.
In the meantime I’m avidly following all those who are doing Sof/Dac treatment on the ‘Nadia’s Journey’ thread.
    Best wishes to all.

Welcome MM, glad you found us and our good Dr! Well if you go buyers club you can do 2 things, come and get it or run the UK customs scenerio however the odds would be pretty good of getting it through. I’m sure you’ve been lurking about and will notice lots of UK folk in and about here. All awesome human beings wanting the same thing, a cure for this disease and to make it available to the masses. OK – So yesterday NICE approved Harvoni, DAC and the AbbVie. For restricted use on NHS England.

However, Nothing will be implemented for 3 months, rumour has it Feb/March 2016.

The details for GT3 are very vague and they have not addressed this GT properly.

Many hospitals have been devolved from central Gvt and are hugely in debt and will not have the budget.

There will be waiting lists and post-code lottery.

For GT1 Tx naive only 8 weeks Harvoni.
and not all treatments the EASL recommended duration.s.

As a treatment ‘guidance’ (but I believe not legally in the small print) We should all have access to the approvals as listed by NICE and they have 3 months to implement this according to the HepC Trust

A pleasing step in the right direction, but maybe not all it’s cracked up to be in the headlines.

We watch, and wait? The reality for many is one – two years away.

The reality for most sufferers at the moment in the UK is no DAA-only treatment until they have significant liver damage. That’s not going to change unless the price of new meds comes down drastically.
