8 August 2016 at 9:34 pm #21984Thanks Will. I was wondering whether you might like to write up your story for the next and very last issue of the hepc.bull? We are ceasing to publish in the format we have for the last 20 years.. Too few volunteers and too pooped. But we intend to continue the website and and online “blog/commentary”… Anyways, let me know. We’d like to get this message out to as many people as we can!! You can PM me the story when it’s done if you wish.

8 August 2016 at 9:39 pm #21985Hello Dr. Freeman. Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t know if it’s do-able (we have very limited funds)..I will pass on your suggestion to our Board. It would be good if we could get a physician to take this on in BC… But they are afraid to, I guess. That’s my understanding.

26 August 2016 at 1:38 am #22526Hello Dr. Freeman. We may have gotten a break. Dr. Tam from the LAIR Centre in Vancouver, BC has responded to my inquiries and is willing to take on patients who have a referral from a GP in the BC MSP. They will guide and monitor patients who choose to enroll in the Redemption trials.
My question to you is: if the patient in BC goes this route then I suppose they go directly to Monkmed. Also, I was looking at the procedures for GP2U and Monkmed online and I got lost with GP2U (sorry.. ) Is GP2U necessary for a Canadian with a BC doctor?
The question then is: If I am in BC and want to register for the trial and have a doctor here, what are the simplest steps? I am counseling people as we speak.
Thanking you in advance

26 August 2016 at 11:18 am #22556Hello Cdmazoff,
If you have a doctor to monitor you, you do not need to go to GP2U.
You need to be contacted by Monkmed for the shipment and consult with Monkmed doctor. It is needed because Monkmed doctor can give you a script, which is required to ship the meds out of India. So, your steps are:
-Register in Redemption (fill in the form, clear the payment)
-Wait for a call from Monkmed
-Wait for your medication to be delivered to your door.
Please email help@fixhepc.com if you need any assistance.

HPHi Hieu,
Can a regular HepC patient from the US contact Monkmed directly to get prescriptions filled and shipped to them without being in the Redemption (etrial)? They are able to get their own prescription, but not the monitoring needed for Redemption. If so, do you happen to know the approx prices for generic Harvoni? danka
G1a dx’d in 1992, Biopsy F2 VL 8mill +. Tried tx with Interferon/Riba, back in 2008 didn’t last long it felt horribly ugly!! I stopped tx, after 5 weeks!!
Started tx 6/1/16 with Harvoni.
12 Month Labs= UND16 September 2016 at 8:21 am #23018Hi Fretboard,
Monkmed is a part of Redemption etrial. It is not possible to have one without another.
If they have a script, they can register for Redemption. It is suggested that they have their own doctor to monitor their treatment (at least someone to order their blood test when needed). They can also get in contact with Monkmed doctors for treatment advice.
Cheers,HP

We are getting a lot of requests from people who want to import treatment, and our biggest problem (here in BC and I suppose the rest of Canada) is getting a physician to oversee the treatment (bloodwork, monitoring for complications –for example, I am cured now!!!! —Harvoni–but my 4th clinical trial was with Zepatier and it triggered atrial fibrillation and I was pulled off although it was working against the hep). So, how does a person who successfully imports the drugs into Canada proceed via getting blood work done? Here in BC everything is done through Pharmacare… or, is there a private pay option?
Anyways, a roadmap that we can share with people who ask us what to do would really be helpful
All the best
