Since I’ve been on the protocol with Epclusa ( Sofosbuvir & Velpatasvir), I’ve read many of the blogs referring to experiences, results, barriers to getting the necessary drugs for a cure and many associated questions to HepC in general. I can’t believe how lucky we all are to have found such wonderful and helpful program and STAFF.
I want to share some of things that I have experienced and helped me along way while taking my meds.1. I took some advice from one our patients and I keep a daily log. When I was participating in certain sports I did the same thing and to this day I’ll run across the logs and smile. I’m sure I’ll do the same with this log in the future.
2. I set an alarm ( 5pm for me) and there have been a few times that it has been helpful.
3. Since sleep is very important for all things my wife and I sleep in separate rooms, because she comes to bed later than I do. I made an extra room into a very nice suite, with many amenities, so it’s not so bad. Thank the lord she’s understanding. A funny side to this is the two dogs sleep with her but once a night one of the dogs comes and hangs with me for awhile. After the pills we’ll be in the same bed–so nobody worry

It’s sad that everyone who needs the treatment is not getting it, but we have a policy….. saving the world one patient at a time. We may not make a big dent but doing something beats doing nothing.
YMMV
15 June 2018 at 4:20 am #28147Is it the same dog that visits every night or do they take turns? Really looking forward to your SVR24 announcement Mrcleanrt.

16 June 2018 at 10:00 pm #28163Hi Mar, They take turns actually. One of the dogs has just completed her second treatment for cancer and she comes in 2-3 times a week. Her sister comes in about the same. It’s interesting, they never come in together. Their both Irish Jack Russell Terriers and we’ve had them since they were 9 wks. They’re 9 yrs now. Such a smart breed of dog.
One more thing that I noticed about the itching is that previous to the treatment, I would spend quite a period of time, before actually falling a sleep, constantly scratching. That is now totally gone! I’m getting a good 7-9 hrs sleep per night. I am amazed at what these pills have done.
Thank you all for being there and doing what you’re doing

16 June 2018 at 11:50 pm #28164The dogs seem very smart indeed, I hope the sick one gets better. Doctor James mentioned before that Hepatitis C is a disease that affects most organs of the body, not just the liver. So it wouldn’t be surprising at all that many of the health issues faced by patients, such as skin issues, will disappear once you get treated.

20 June 2018 at 7:24 am #28187Hi. I’m really pleased to read that things are going well. I loved your dog story. They are so intuitive.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment.Coral
24 June 2018 at 10:22 am #28219Hello mrcleanrt,
Itch is one of those things for which medicine has not good symptomatic treatments (other treating the cause).
It’s great to hear that you seem to have found the cause of your itch and that the treatment has settled it.
YMMV
