I’ve just finished 12 weeks of a 24 week treatment with Sof & Led.
I was also taking Ribavirin for the first 12 weeks but from now on its only Sof & Led.
I had a few side effects from the RIBA but I’m not sure what to expect with just the Sof & Led.
I guess in about 12 to 14 days, the RIBA should be out of the body.
Can anyone tell me what, if any side effects they’re getting on just the Sof & Led ?

    Hi Hamilton,

I suspect you are just going to keep feeling better and better throughout the rest of treatment and certainly notice nothing worse than now. Riba has a half life of 12.4 days so after 84 days of use to date you are saturated with it. It will now drop to half the level in 12.4 days, quarter the level at ~25 days, one eighth at 37 days, one sixteenth at 50 days, etc.

http://www.drugs.com/pro/ribavirin.html “In addition, Ribavirin has a multiple dose half-life of 12 days, and it may persist in non-plasma compartments for as long as 6 months.”

    G3a since ’78 – Dx ’12 – F4 (2xHCC)
    24wk Tx – PEG/Riba/Dac 2013 relapsed

Hi Hamilton I have three weeks to go of a 12 week course on Sof/Led. Only side effect was insomnia which resolved itself about half way through my treatment. Feeling much better now than before I started. Good luck with the rest of your treatment :)

    YMMV

Hi Hamilton, I am 1 week in and so far sx very manageable.

1st day, mild ‘hangover-like ‘ headache – drank water & it went, no more headaches since.
Speedy mornings after taking pill & amazing ‘flashes’ of feeling my old self – Day 2 #woohoo!
Tinitus a little more pronounced but not bad.
After a week – Less sleep. Go to sleep ok but waking up earlier every morning.
Lower back/pelvic/hip pain returned, but not disabling, just ‘there’.(instinct says digestive/lower bowel, not frame/muscle)
Huge appetite – Think I’m putting on much needed weight!
Aware I am emotionally sensitive to anything sad or stressful, but more cheery in general – no doubt.
Oh yeah, sudden brain -fog episodes, worse in evening

All in all, it’s very easy :-) You should feel so much better soon Hamilton .

You probably got the worst of the side effects from the Sof/Led out of the way while you were on combination with the Riba, Hamilton. It should be plain sailing once you’ve cleared the Riba.

Starting my 3rd week on generic harvoni.
No major side effects although my bile reflux became worst upon starting the harvoni. This was remedied by using Urosan.
I don’t feel any better since using Harvoni but that’s to be expected as its not supposed to make you feel better. Its job is to destroy the virus – liver damage will remain the same – there’s no cure for cirrhosis

    Thank for that Stew,
I’ve heard that your liver is the only organ that can repair itself.
I’m hoping to clear the virus & my liver will slowly repair.
Like you Stew, I’ve been having problems with my reflux.
Went off my SOMAC before start of treatment.
