Got test result yesterday. Despite having a week of feeling just like having the illness – headaches, fatigue, mild nausea for days, that endless hangover feeling – the viral load test came back “Undetectable”
I hope this can give some encouragement to others who feel like crap after treatment. The really scary thing for me was that from a few days after finishing treatment to a month later I felt good – really more energy, even went to a gym. Then 4-5 days of crap. Just as I imagined a relapse would feel. But it wasn’t. It just seems my poor body is taking its time recovering from decades of virus and treatments, and that this recovery goes up and down, rather than in a straight line…
So in a nutshell, no matter how you feel after treatment, there is hope, and you’re probably doing just fine!
8 May 2016 at 6:21 am #16801Oops. Can someone move this to Patient Stories?
8 May 2016 at 6:30 am #16803I’ve moved it to SVR. It’s important to remember that just because you don’t have Hep C you can still get all the variations of flu etc.
As always, if the symptoms persist, see a doctor.
YMMV
8 May 2016 at 6:30 am #16804Fantastic news……..hope you feel better soon though….I also put my SVR12 post in the admin section….must be the rush to spread the good news
YMMV
8 May 2016 at 6:35 am #16806Thanks Lynne & thanks Dr Freeman. I actually came down with a cold on Friday. Perhaps the liverish feelings I had were the beginnings of that. In between the 5 days of complete crap and getting the cold on Friday was about a week of feeling run down with insomnia (though I think the insomnia was largely worry). I slept well last night
8 May 2016 at 6:38 am #16807Feels really good to have joined the SVR section if only in a small way as yet
8 May 2016 at 6:47 am #16809Congratulations Phoenix!
Great to hear of your SVR5 and hope your cold goes away soon so you can really celebrate.

G1a dx’d in 1992, Biopsy F2 VL 8mill +. Tried tx with Interferon/Riba, back in 2008 didn’t last long it felt horribly ugly!! I stopped tx, after 5 weeks!!
Started tx 6/1/16 with Harvoni.
12 Month Labs= UND8 May 2016 at 7:33 am #16812Thanks Gaj & Fretboard
Actually my third UND. Was UND at weeks 4 and 8 during treatment. This is my first UND post-treatment.
I took generic drugs from Mesochem through FixHepC. 12 weeks Sof/Dac, and the proof seems to be there so far that it’s good stuff

Liverish
8 May 2016 at 11:05 am #16822Hi again Phoenix I had insomnia all the way through my treatment but I really did get used to it after a while because my energy levels were so much better throughout the day…..all back to normal now!! Went to sleep okay but around 4am – 5am, boing eyes wide open!
YMMV
8 May 2016 at 11:59 am #16825Thanks CC2B.
Hang in there Tweakmax! I have SO discovered that liverish does not necessarily equal virus. The crap feeling will almost certainly pass.
Lynne I really relate to a strange new energy/insomnia thing. It feels sometimes like I might just need less sleep now, like my biorhythms are being reset in a good way, but it still takes a bit of getting used to. Though when I feel crap it feels like the same old crap! I think I’m getting easier with the idea that the road to recovery will still have twists and turns.
8 May 2016 at 2:06 pm #16829Thankyou Phoenix for being honest and posting this. I had a little smile at your turn of phase for the title as that would be my sentiments exactly! ( apart from the UND as haven’t had the test yet.) I find your post quite reassuring.
I am going for a liver function test next week as I asked my gp for one and won’t get a VL test until 12 weeks post EOT, as per NHS standard.
Cheers, and really glad you remain undetected. Congratulations! -
