    @ariel

    Good morning
On this debate I seem to have have been misunderstood about the quality of the testing so……
    I will restate:
My FIRST path aasay range was 30-10000000
    I was <30
    NOT GOOD ENOUGH
A week later I had TWO tests performed no NOT assay 30 plus
Lower limit 15 see my blog (Ariel takes the plunge)
Qualitative VL AND quantitative PCR RNA reported
    Nothing seen on either

    Zero
UND woohoo! Nothing will rock my boat now no talk of test assays etc etc nope

    My GP rang labs
He located and wrote up the test request whilst on phone I sat there

I am not worried !!! Don't stress everyone it isn't worth the worry trust is good for the mind

I have even relapsed from Peg/inf I shouldn't have even been on at F0 and VL 400000! But NO I Am not anxious or concerned or worried or confused about the tests I had

I'm STOKED and I hope to hear more Stoke on here than worry
In my case at day 40 (now week 8 here)
    The VL shows nothing
    The PCR RNA shows UND
I believe I am clear and intend staying clear

I tried to write this in a consice way earlier on this thread but it seems people think I'm being tested still at assay 30+ NO!!!!
    Please again reread my notes
I hope you can find a doctor who will assist with explanation
James and I talked about this prior to my second test as I also mentioned
I'm in Oz so I don't know the system in the UK and US but I say get both, and trust the qualitative UND
Ken, yes you made a good point re ranges as during peginf test ranges on my reports were ridiculously high assay eg 600- 10000000 whats the point of that but then that was three to four years ago now
Gosh this is getting way too stressful here !

I'm happy with my testing and quality of care.
At the end of the day ask Dr J to explain why you may see an unquantifiable result such as my first at day 25 (<30)
Then seek out testing as I did with support from medicos, because hell I was getting close and knew from my ALT AST I was going to clear imminently.
    Hoping this makes perfect sense

So I split the difference haha!
I am up so much in the night I would possibly commit a grizzly crime involving a coffee plunger without my half a cup ;) xx

I still don’t understand? Why can’t you get path sorted at your GP
I’m missing something here, I wrote about how I handled this in Oz
Was simple once I had the info, is this another issue in the UK and US
    Hope you sort it

Hi all, I asked Dr James about this because the assay range on my first test was 30-1000000000
    I came in at <30
    No it wasn't UND
I wondered why a huge public hospital only had such a threshold
All my questions, those you ask here were answered
    I also talked to Emilio
A week after the hospital result I saw my GP armed with the information from James and Em and my GP rang around the path labs here.
He located the most accurate lower limit quantitative testing lab and the best qualitative
He ordered the PCR RNA and the regular VL
This second test did show an assay of 15-100000000 and the qualitative csme in as UND
    Well nothing showed anywhere
Maybe you can ask for your doc to ring around too?
I'm my GPs first DAA patient and he defers to the info from Dr J and my prescriber, a specialist in another state from me! The hospital had just written more of the same original test I mentioned for my 8 weeks anyway!
So yesterday I rang them, explaining that I had an UND via private path and of course had to put up with the third degree but hey, I don't have to do the three hour round trip plus waiting for hours there plus paying a stupid amount for parking this Friday yay! I'm just going in for my appointment next Friday the 15th end of week 9, and the nurse said any follow up bloods can be done that day if necessary.
It seems that good GP support was the key for me to avoid this frustration you are discussing.
Cheers from Ariel hope you get what we all need re bloods xxxx

Ken hi, do you find nights are the worst?
I’m having porridge in the morning around 5.30am which is when I really cannot be bothered with it anymore and it helps settle things down. I’m mixing the oats with milk not water and adding a few seeds and sultanas. Only half a cup of coffee waah
Not long to go anyway good luck for your EOT
    :)

Hi Flying Fox you are getting your script from the liver clinic tomorrow?
I am certain with your stats that people want to know if you do. Please as you say in your comments “If I can get a script on Wednesday than anyone can….” And “I have all my ducks in a row” referring to your testing being up to date please let us know if you get your script and meds on PBS tomorrow
I have friends who couldn’t afford the generics I bought here at FixHepC and have given me my UND so quickly. They are not in good health like you are and have been in clinic for eons but have not got any real timeline yet from their capital city liver clinic hence my asking you to let us know if you do get the PBS meds tomorrow as you say. It will give a lot of people huge hope truly it will.
    Thanks for this hope FF

“The Turnbull Government has set aside over $1 billion over five years to subsidise a range of breakthrough medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) that could all but eradicate Hepatitis C in Australia within a generation.’

So tomorrow is D day! 1ST MARCH, OH AND HAPPY LEAP YEAR TO ALL LEAP YEAR BDAY PEOPLE HAPPY BDAY…

I have been involved in other forum long term since half way through my botched peg/inf, and that forum well, the funding for same was govt based. On there anyone on DAAs like me was shunted off into the naughty corner and I left.
Oh why you ask? because apparently everyone will be handed their script in the entire Aussie population tomorrow…yeah right. I can see it now, a queue of 250k peeps lining up and being handed out tx….NOT.

Call me a cynic, call me a leftie, I don’t care, I am real about this…triage that? How the hell.

More the point, one thing that people are happy to overlook is that this ‘roll out’ was from the onset, in the spectacular speech by Minister Ley, announce OVER FIVE YEARS.

Now how many are not diagnosed and how many more will become infected during this time. I have docs in my fam, and a few mates I surf with who are docs, they are not upskilling the majority are not able to fit it in to their schedule. I am my own GPs first patient and he refers to what I get from my prescribing Specialist in another State and what I learn from Dr J.

The word on the ground is that IVDU and prisoners will be getting this free first, then cirrhotics….who knows the truth?

But tomorrow is the Day! Here is the link to the Govt site, hep Aust…yep apparently tomorrow everyone is going to be given their script !! Fellow Australians do we agree? http://www.hepatitisaustralia.com/faq-hep-c-treatments

So I will wait to see what happens. It will be VERY INTERESTING.

    Let’s watch this space huh…

Hi there Ken, my teeth are sensitive, and I do not like the sharp bitey feeling on my mouth now of any foods like strawberries, apricots, and many acidy things in my mouth during sof/led. Gums are sensitive, just use a floss and mouthwash more than a toothbrush it works for me, also a build up of tartar has been another thing. But no fizzy body here! At least the gum mouth thing isn’t as bad as it was on peg/inf…just changed my oral care regime and watch out for any food.
Splashes of fizzies to ya! Ariel
