    Thanks everyone for all the valuable information. B) I’m trying to find the sweet spot between alarm (oh dang is this what I’m in for?) and ambivalence.

    I’m doing (hopefully) 12 weeks only of Harvoni. Just reaching the end of week 2. I have a full time job but took the first week off and had lots of nanna naps.

    Doc at RPA got me to go off all supplements except Vitamn D. I expected to feel the worse for it but feel surprisingly ok. So far.

    Swimming 3 to 4 days a week in the ocean helps the body and the spirit. On the other days I use a neti pot, have been doing this for years. It’s a Yoga thing.

    I still feel that every day is a step into the unknown and remain optimistic about the end result and am trying to have no expectations around sx

    Just being around the surf is awesome. Good for the spirit
    I’m a clubby and spent patrol yesterday arvo on my own (well in the company of swimmers and waders competing for space with learner surfers, yikes!)
    No casualties despite tricky conditions, lots of surf education.

    When I said nothing to report, I may have spoken too soon.

    I fully expected to feel pretty ordinary on account of stopping all the supplements I’ve been on. (I’ve been doing a bunch of things to try to keep the disease at bay, something was working and I didn’t want to mess with success. (liver supplements, anti-oxidants etc etc, Yoga, weights, cardio, swimming, acupuncture)).

    However I’m feeling quite fine. I swim several times a week and was prone to cramps in my calves but these seem to have stopped, even after a long (2.5km) swim.

    When I wake up, I’m AWAKE!!!! How amazing is that!!!

    Finally, my appetite is changing to wanting to eat less. I’ve been borderline insulin resistant for quite a while and have struggled, not very successfully, to keep weight off (you’d think with the activity I do this would be easy, but no) maybe this is resolving itself. This means I have to make sure that what I do eat is quality, nutritious food.

    I’m surprised that I’m experiencing these positive effects so quickly. People have asked me how having hep C impacts my life and I’ve always had to say I don’t know because I’ve had it for so long (probably since the second half of 1975) and not known for so long that I had it that this is normal for me.

    Very happy to be looking forward to a new lease on life.

    It truly seems to be a miracle cure.
    It still make me angry to think that the funding for my treatment comes at the expense of much needed tests and treatment for very sick individuals. Just don’t be poor and sick in the good ole US of Australia :( :angry:

    Go right ahead, PKQ hijack away! The generics are not illegal. The person at the clinic straight-out lied.

    The nurse at the RPA clinic tried to dissuade me from going down the generic path. She didn’t say they were illegal, I think she knew I wouldn’t have bought that crap. She did play what she probably thought was a Devil’s Advocate role.

    I can’t help but wonder if I got the Harvoni meds as quickly as I did because I told the Dr I’d decided to buy the generics. She told me to wait because they were going to become available on the PBS in the new year. It really feels that I was fast tracked. I’m one of the first people at RPA to get a script, I believe (I look at the bottle on the kitchen bench and still have to pinch myself :) ).

    When I was first diagnosed I did quite a bit of research and decided not to take the Interferon treatment. Dr Strasser pretty much called me an idiot for not doing it. That was in 2004 and for a 60 year old person with Hep C I’m doing pretty well, so I’d say I made the right call.
