I’ve always been careful with iron when I had the virus, I was led to believe that a hep liver accumulates iron more & it can make liver worse.
Probably mainly if you take iron sups, and if the liver is cirrhotic.

Also Vit C helps absorb iron so if having foods rich in iron best not to have vitC rich foods with it.
Wait a while then have them.

Also many hep people need to take VitD3 as we are low in that.

Have you been told your low in iron?
best for people to get tested for iron & vitD.

I just know over the years, I’ve always been warned on various forums to avoid iron.
Also to try to keep to a low GI diet as people with the virus are more susceptible to diabetes.

Hi Miko,

Just a thought, all those vegies & fruit sounds very healthy & a good idea, but for those who have the virus, it’s a good idea to stay clear of Iron, this is bad, the hep loves it.

So maybe go easy on the kale.

The rest sounds GOOD

Hi Hamilton,

i always found taking the Ribas earlier, rather than later, helps with the no sleep problem.
The Ribas make you speedy.

Hey I remember years ago when I didn’t realise I had the virus, I would get terrible hang overs, never realised that was probably from the hep!!

Also, does anyone think the virus affects your memory.

My son’s memory’s BAD, could it be the hep? or just a normal teenager lazy thing ?

I might contact the head nurse there, but would wait ’till I have the Harvoni in my hands, wont let myself get too excited ’till I actually have them!! Don’t want anything to go wrong.
I only need someone close by to see IF there’s a problem, but James is confident that there wont be any problems.
So just have to hope….
It’s hard when it’s your child.

If it was just for me, yeah, I’d try there, but this is for my son, so…. but he’s taller than me, so maybe they’d treat him as an adult.

It’s a shame they don’t just make it normal to test everyone.
I bet there’s heaps of people out there hep positive & don’t know it.
Especially the baby Boomers.
I hope you can talk your children into getting tested, but I know it’s hard telling kids to do anything, they usually think they know best !!

I feel your pain, it’s not a good feeling.
My Doctor said only 5% pass on the virus to the baby.
Did you have a caesarean? I did.
Are you still hep positive?

I so agree. My son is almost 16 and weighs 72 kg and tall.
