I am assuming your boy is <18. If so you may find getting in touch with CJ helpful:

    http://fixhepc.com/forum/patient-stories/311-young-j-the-dragon-slayer.html

is the story of he treating her 15 yo (now 16 yo son) with DAAs. He is SVR12 and it was a more comfortable run than the Interferon/Riba he was offered (actually he would still be on treatment with that, and with a 50:50 chance of cure).

There are two things well worth translating.

One is the powerpoint presentation. There are both slides and notes in that. The notes go into more detail.

The other is the official EASL press release: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2016-04/eaft-lgd040816.php

In terms of disruptive guerilla advertising I do actually wonder about letting people bid on “Harvoni Holidays”

You are bidding on a Harvoni Holiday.

As we know Harvoni is outrageously expensive in the USA – $94,000 for 84 tablets – but it is only $900 in Egypt.

    This auction includes:

Limousine rides to and from your nearest airport.

First class return flights to Egypt

2 nights accomodation in the Presidential Suite at the Cairo Hilton

Chauffeur driven travel to the pyramids and a private medical clinic where you can see a doctor who can prescribe Harvoni (please note that medication is not included and will cost $900)

The reserve price on this auction is $23,000 or less than 1/4 of getting the medicine locally.

I had a very interesting patient, who, prior to treating people with HIV I would have thought was mad.

He had whole body tingling (a very unusual thing).

Anyway on treatment the tingling started to go.

First from the middle, then from elbows down, then wrists, then fingers, then gone.

Quite remarkable and certainly an improvement.

Diabetes is very common in patients with HCV and can cause neuropathy so that is a good one to look for.

Strange neurological symptoms do happen as an extra hepatic manifestation of HCV.

HCV is not the only cause of neuropathy so if you treat your HCV and it does not get better we would need to look for another cause.

I got my blood result of VL and am not sure, does it mean I am cured?

If this is the result immediately after treatment the answer is “we don’t know yet”. If it was 4 weeks after it would be “we are pretty confident”

Please see my post here for the explanation in detail: http://fixhepc.com/forum/experts-corner/990-dealing-with-the-eot-to-svr-period.html

The <15 could be <15 detected or <15 undetected. Some labs simply report <15 (quantitative) and not the detected/undetected (qualitative).

Anyway the chances are that this will end up SVR. If not the short duration of you treatment makes longer treatment an obvious choice (but it is unlikely we will have to cross that bridge).

Let’s hope it does not come to that, but like Martin Luther King said….

It’s worth waiting for the ad to play. Fixhepc is my non violent protest about a moral wrong.

Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, HIV, TB and Malaria are the 5 major causes of infectious disease death worldwide.

In a breakthrough that rivals the invention of penicillin, drugs that cure hepatitis C, with minimal side effects and high success rates, have reached the market.

Across the world 150 million people are infected with Hepatitis C and it causes over ½ a million deaths each year, but, in what must be one of the greatest tragedies of modern times, these life saving medications are not being deployed on a mass scale.

The system is broken, let’s fix it.

    Hello Juen,

Yes this is the expected result. The rest of the treatment should kill off the last few stragglers. BMS got 49/52 for SOF+DCV in GT2 so it is a good choice and avoids the ribavirin.

At the moment we have 100% so please don’t ruin the average! :-)

Shall be writing to my local Members, Newspaper, Hospital and every medical clinic in Bendigo and the main Hospitals in Melbourne……hope this helps just a little. And I will get my FB family to share a post I will put up over the weekend regarding my journey with generics. I have no problem with people knowing who I am…my FB family know now as does my employer and all the staff at work and my small but wonderful network of close friends. :)

I’m not usually a fan of song revisited covers but I must admit I like the Hothouse Flowers version. I was working as a bartender when they played to a packed closed house of 200 at the Mayfair Tavern in Hobart in a pop up show before the idea of pop-up show was in vogue.

    Hi TM,

Professor Ed Gane was curing people of Hep C before many people on the forum here even knew they had it!

What he has been trying to say in lay language is that Ledipasvir is a BCS class II medication with high permeability but poor solubility.

70% of all medications are BCS class II so the science and technology required to make them bioavailable (ie dissolve and get into the body) are well known. Really well known. Pharmacists were doing it before Gilead the company even existed.

We tested some of the very first Twinvir against Gilead medication from ION-1 and found it equivalent. While it is possible to make a bad generic Incepta do not.

Hello. I’m from Riverside County. I am interested in the Mesochem APIs. The idea of formulating my own capsules scares me. I would like to try. I am wishing you all the best.

Understand. If price is an issue go the APIs, but I would suggest Sof+Dac because it’s better and cheaper than Sof+Led (Harvoni equivalent).

If you can afford $1500-1600 just use REDEMPTION and get your tablets already made.
