When I raised the topic of constipation elsewhere there was a deafening chorus of agreement from Hepsters on tx worldwide. And many of them using Dac rather than Led. Seems it comes and goes though so I’m hoping that this too shall pass, and eating Pineapple and Daikon and Bran cereal (and whatever else it takes!)

“Some may say it’s probably an emotional response, but I have had (without going into detail for those having breakfast) a digestive response this morning and feel , well …. much better!! ”

Nope I don’t think its emotional at all. I’m finding the Ledipasvir a constipation station too :(
Which is stressing me out a bit. Probiotics seem to have zero effect. This is actually probably why people get headaches on the Harvoni too. Headaches and bowels are unfortunate dance partners.
Not sure what to do about all that.
Wish I could get a psychedelic liver picture too :)

I embrace a full spectrum of emotions, dark and light. Never hide from the shadow side.
Anger is the energy that changes the status quo.

By the way if you want to see people being given meds by liver clinics you just have to look on the Facebook page…there are quite a lot of them there…though it would be true to say many of them are Queenslanders. I guess we just don’t have the population pressures you have down south.

“It seems strange Australia has compounding pharmacies selling generics. Why doesn’t the government use them?”

Because like all Western countries our government are corporate shills elected by a dumbed down and self defeating population. The amount of money they have given to big pharma for these meds is a drop in the ocean compared to what they have given the US Military Industrial complex.

I know you are not making judgment calls Ariel. You are righteously angry about many issues and I fully support you in that.
I guess the painful truth is that life demands survival skills that not everyone is gifted with.

If you know your genotype and cirrhosis level it really is just a matter of finding a GP who is a decent human being. Greg Jefferies has been compiling lists of them in each state from what I have heard.
You can’t really blame the Public Hospitals for being slow and useless when you consider how poorly they are funded these days.

EDIT: Sorry! Wrong thread! It’s way too early!
Good luck with the tx Beaches…the Harvoni is pretty cruisey for me so far.

Ariel you might like to know I managed to get my friend with cirrhosis started on her meds. She took the script she had got from GP2U last December to her lovely (but totally clueless) GP, and he rang up the PBS…answered the two magic questions…what is genotype? and any cirrhosis, and they gave him a number. He copied out the script from the GP2U generic one, and looked at the PBS guidelines…no worries mate!
I don’t think she has heard from her liver clinic at all yet though I did tell her she should let them know.
Anyway she is rushing around with a whole new lease on life!

Day 16. Even my LFTs wouldn’t have dropped much seeing as they were always in the normal range.
I know the meds are working though…I can just tell. I think the best thing for me is just to let it ride, take the pills and wait it out. After all here in the lucky country the meds are falling off the trees.
I have great support too…family and friends all in my corner :)
Really should just be grateful and happy.

From the stats in that article you posted, there are quite a few people who would still be detected at end of tx…35% of Sof/Led 12 weekers in fact…even though 95% are ultimately clear at svr12.
Considering my obsessive tendencies, I think I might just leave it to fate, and not even go there.

    Congrats Tina!
    Better late than never!
All this makes me think my GP might be right about not bothering to test till SVR12.
It must be a nice feeling having an early UND, but if you don’t get one, then maybe its unnecessary torture.

Thanks LG..its all a bit worrisome, especially as I stupidly cancelled my specialist appointment once I had a script (on my GPs advice).
When next I see my GP I will demand 8 wks bloods and try not to overthink it till then. I am stunned at my difficulty with asserting myself with medical professionals generally….I can do it just fine with everyone else.
    Hopefully practise will make perfect.

It’s one of my ambitions in life to move somewhere I can swim in the sea everyday Ariel. I love it so much….there is nothing more healing or enjoyable! Maybe once I have finished tx I will do just that, but for now it has to be the pool most of the time. Its been such a help doing some laps twice a week. Not anywhere in your league on that but I love the exercise and the effects. It does muscles which are so important and often neglected otherwise.
Yeah the sinus thing is getting worse now and I wouldn’t be surprised if some kind of flu thing results. At least now I can be fairly sure I’m not catching it from the pool :D

Good to hear you have a clearer picture now of your liver health, and congrats on keeping it in such good shape!
I too was impressed by my Fibroscan results…4.7kpa and a FIB-4 Score of 1.01.
I am doing twelve weeks, and the GP who prescribed for me (who had done a course on the meds) advised me to not bother with any bloods till 12wks after tx. Reading your story makes me wonder if this is a good idea however, and as I have a several blood requests lying about I could use, I am thinking of doing an 8wk bloods. However if they are not undetected I’m not sure what I’ll do, as I have heard people do still clear even if they aren’t UND early on. But who knows…you seem to have had a bit of a rough ride with tx and I don’t blame you for wanting to extend, rather than have to do it again, which is something none of us want to do.. I guess I will just wait and see how I feel at 8wks.

Apple Cider Vinegar increases stomach acid I’m told. (with mother)
I’ve been putting it in my water.
