Okay, I’ll err on the side of caution. I don’t want to have to do this again!
You guys have given me a very good education in tx management :)
I still have a coffee in the morning..only one though…and I’ve been taking my meds much later, at 1pm.
I try not to drink too much liquid around them, though I do sometimes have a light lunch after. I find a bit a food after meds makes me feel less spacey and vacant.

There is a strong emotional and dare I say it, psychoactive element to these meds. It’s a very strange experience!

As for the bicarb….I’ve stopped ingesting it. But I can’t stop doing the mouthwash and baths with it. Can’t see how it would be a problem externally…I mean surely its because it reduces stomach acid, which you need to digest the Ledipasvir. Maybe I’ll cut down on it a bit in the mouthwash just in case…or at least not mouthwash for a few hours around the dose.

Ah no tonsils…that wouldn’t help…and that damn weather. It would probably do me in too. I am hopeless with the cold…I think thats another Hep symptom.

Its really strange how diverse the symptoms of hep C seems to be. There’s no doubt in my mind now that a lot of my teeth and gum problems and head congestion were caused by the virus.
I kept telling my various doctors that but of course they didn’t take it all seriously…its a relief to know I was right and that maybe things will start to heal.

LG I have had a lot of low level jaw infections for many years and what seems like an abnormal amount of congestion in my sinuses especially at night. The good news is that seems to be clearing up a lot now, and my whole head area feels a lot clearer and cleaner than its been in ages, but its almost as if the gunk is resolving into and area at the back of my nose and mouth and I am needing to clear it out. Still oil pulling daily with coconut, olive, clove, peppermint and tea tree…and also gargling two or three times a day with my mix…which helps so much.
    My mouthwash…
    About two cups water
    A couple teaspoons salt
    Two teaspoon bicarb
About twenty drops Clove, Peppermint and Tea Tree
Shake well, and add more water if too strong.

Only 13 days in and feeling okay, but there is a definite limit to my energy levels. I can tell I am going to have to take it easy for the duration and feel sorry for anyone who has to do a full-time job while treating. Paradoxically I also feel better when I get some exercise in the pool…more grounded and centred. Its ridiculously hot here for mid March so thats an energy sapper too. But I can tell my system is compromised.
Manky feeling right in the back of my throat/ sinuses that I can tell would evolve into an infection if I wasn’t blitzing it regularly with my special home made clove oil gargle.

What I mean by that is that Introverted/Extraverted has nothing to do with how sociable you are.
There are plenty of sociable introverts.
It’s more about where you find your meaning. If you take your meaning from the outside world you are an extravert, and if you find it within you are an introvert. What the upshot of that is, that Introverts are very self absorbed…they look for answers within and when they find them they act on their own volition. Extraverts are more likely to look for answers outside themselves and to outside authorities.
For this reason its probably unlikely that anyone here is an Extravert.

I don’t think Jung would have approved of the Myers Brigg.
It isn’t really faithful to the true meaning of introversion and extraversion, especially in that test formula.
I am an INFP if anything but that test doesn’t agree.

    Thanks Gaj!
And thanks to Dr Freeman for being willing to prescribe for me when no-one else was. I’m sure its his courage and integrity that has forced Gilead to give us such a good deal.
And thanks to you all for sharing your stories and advice…you are a wonderful bunch of people. #love

I am a very lucky person in a very lucky country!

I feel your pain Ariel :(
I am also trying to help a cirrhotic friend negotiate the swamp of a major city liver clinic.
It s not easy for people with brain fog to get organised, and for some bizarre reason her Hep nurse has chosen this as a good time to take a holiday. My public specialist seemed to think that the hospitals wouldn’t be organised to start prescribing till April.
This is why I got organised and I can at least feel good that I have freed up a Specialist appt at the public clinic.

However I didn’t really spend much money in the end, apart from the fibroscan which it turns out you don’t actually need, as I have heard there are prescribing GPs on the ground willing to do it just with blood tests.

The problem with the HIV GP clinics is that they generally don’t bulk bill, but I still only paid a total of $80 on two appointments.
If your friend is in Sydney they should try Holdsworth House (I went to their Brisbane branch and they were very organized)…as long as they have some evidence of cirrhosis and a blood test within the last six months…that is really all they need to prescribe.
Presumably someone with varices will have plenty of recent tests. The only problem I can see is that they might need some special monitoring, but surely the GP can consult with their public specialist somehow. Its early days yet so hard to know for sure, which is why giving any advice is difficult.

Once they get the script go with it to the pharmacy that the HIV clinic recommends.
Mine is ringing this morning with hopefully pick up happening later on.
    Fingers crossed.

Lynne Francis, I am pretty sure Dr Freeman will be prescribing PBS meds.
He did say in an email to me a few weeks ago that he would be doing so.
I guess he’ll need to confirm that himself.
Not sure what the drill is with treatment failures.

EDIT: Check out the new video!
    Answers all the questions :)

Thanks Chester… I was bouncing down the street with a ridiculous smile after my appointment. People must have thought I was crazy :D
My GP, who is very “switched on” corroborated the capping news. That is that beyond a certain amount (probably 6000 per year) the treatments will be free. So we can only hope everyone who wants to will get treated.
