    Hi Pat,

Thanks for posting your experience. Sorry to hear of your problems but glad to hear that you are receiving expert advice which seems to be working. Hoping it was just a small glitch and the rest of your Tx is trouble free and successful. :)

    Hi Dan,

Congratulations on reaching UND! That must be a wonderful feeling. :)

I’m not sure I can help with whether to extend treatment, the statistics say that 12 weeks should be enough. You need to weight up side effects vs any extra peace of mind a further 4 weeks would give.

    Hi honker,

I’m on Sof/Dac but much the same as Tina for the eyes, didn’t really notice any difference for skin. But as you are a visitor spending time outdoors a warning is in order regarding intensity of the sun and UV here. It is fierce even in Tasmania and on cloudy days and we have the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world so please wear suitable clothing, sunscreen on exposed areas and polarised sunglasses. Please have a read of below for suitable advice.

    @gaj

Prof Gane has been involved in many/most of the DAA trials in NZ and not just involving the company that makes Velpatasvir…..and at least two of the leading specialists in Aust have been involved in this country’s arms of the various phase trials for that drug. Same for U.S., Europe et al.

To some extent this comes down to whether we want to built a big wall between our medical specialists and Big Pharma. Do we want the Pharmas and their molecular chemists to just develop drugs on their own or do we want the safeguards and benefits provided when leading medical specialists have input into the design and approval process. And how do we avoid blatant self interest if the latter?

Well one way is via the Potential Conflict of Interest statement as quoted by mgalbrai. It is unfortunate that one of those was not included with the radio interview but good luck with that in regard to any of the public media outlets!

OTOH he participated in the interview along with Dr Freeman and while he provided what some may see as the “company line” and others a cautious medical establishment approach, he also supported supply chain integrity and did not make the connection between potential issues he foresaw and FixHepC sourced generics. That was done by members here.

    Hi re_roll,

The trend has been downwards since July last year and they are back to mid 2014 price now. They have more competition entering the market, both patent and generic and they have generated a lot of bad publicity recently. As I’ve noted previously the majority of the market is made up of mature long term investors who don’t seem all that impressed with the current strategy. Though I have no doubt that when Velpatasvir launches, the fast money will move in again and create another short term blip.

    Hi Hope,

Great news to hear that your GP, psychologist and friend are all supportive. :)

Other than Dr Freeman perhaps you could try contacting: monkmed.com
While they are acting as FixHepC’s support for the Redemption trials my understanding is that they are an international internet medical provider in their own right. The comments I am seeing on here from Redemption trial participants seem to be complimentary about their knowledge regarding HCV and other medical matters. They may be prepared to provide support and guidance to you regarding treatment with oversight by your GP.

Many of us on treatment including myself have noticed a considerable reduction in anxiety/depression, etc within a few weeks of commencing treatment. Was the HCV causing some of these issues, or is it just the improved physical wellness that is buoying us up? I don’t know the answer to that but whatever it is the effect is real and noticeable.

There surely must be a way to take a sample of Mesochem ledipasvir and determine, beyond any doubt, its exact properties.

Yes…..but to some extent that just invokes the “yes…..but” argument as it is far easier to confirm difference than it is to prove being the same to some parties. They will always want even further proof.

    mgalbrai wrote:

    REDEMPTION is testing its efficacy.

It is and will be the confirmation required. But don’t forget that there are numbers of less formal Individual trials being provided by those of us who began Tx pre or outside Redemption. This will no doubt be decried by the naysayers as informal/anecdotal/undocumented and probably even unreliable. But for those following it will give great confidence until Redemption results are completed and compiled.

So a general plea to anyone reading who was an early adopter:

“Please post all you results for SVR tests after completing treatment to give others who follow confidence.”

    Thanks :)

Prof Gane’s fields of expertise are hepatology and virology not API molecular chemistry and manufacturing. He will be receiving advice about those aspects as do all experts about related but non core areas. As he is an intelligent man with some knowledge that advice will need to be plausible for him to heed it and issue a warning. But plausible does not equal correct and may be applicable in some instances but not others.

The comment about needing sophisticated facilities to manufacture Ledipasvir sounds about right. However, mentioning that in the same interview as expressing concerns about some Chinese manufactured drugs does not mean that Mesochem is incapable of producing quality Ledipasvir.

    Hi Ariel, :)

Looking around other forums, it seems blurry vision is a fairly common side that seems to resolve after treatment. I’ve noticed in myself that vision including sore eyes is also effected by a number of other things related to general health including stress and dehydration so it could be that too.

You mention the night terrors so I’m wondering if you are dehydrating overnight which could also explain the dark urine so drink plenty of water but if it doesn’t clear quickly then LG’s suggestion to pop down to the GP sounds like good advice. I doubt it is the Tx but maybe something else that you can nip in the bud?

Usual disclaimers about my non medical advice. ;)

    Hi Jaz,

Yeah, the delay is what happens when your test results don’t make it back before Xmas then your clinic shuts for two weeks (except for emergencies and while I thought mine was….I wasn’t quite sure they would  ) and then needs to be rerun, so lots of delays.

Just checked my specialist’s pathology request and think it is just for qualitative but he has noted “12 weeks” against it so not sure what that means. Anyway I plan to be UND by then so not a problem. :P
