As Chapel states, Hetero are one of the major manufacturers of Hepatitis medications in India and also make product for other Indian companies under various brand names. Details below:

    https://fixhepc.com/forum/daa-access/448-hetero-sof-dac-sof-led-combo.html

They also appear to have a chain of retail pharmacies in India. However, I don’t know whether these are owned by Hetero or are just franchises or resellers. If you are planning to purchase via mail order then Supply Chain Integrety is very important and you should check such things as whether delivery is guaranteed and what happens if your purchase is seized by customs, etc. (see below for more information)

I also have some pain in that region from time to time like others, although it is mostly fairly mild but my specialist has been unable to pin down a cause despite my regular CT scans and other checks. You don’t say how long ago this occurred and while blurred vision and general weakness that went away quickly may just be a coincidence or a bug you picked up around the same time. I wouldn’t be alarmed but I do recommend that you discuss all these symptoms with your doctor and allow them to investigate further to ensure that there are no underlying problems. As Hazel says, make sure you are drinking enough fluids to remain adequately hydrated while on treatment as these meds do seem to increase our requirements.

    Hi happi,

Glad to hear that you have medical support and it sounds like you have a plan in place. :)

Alimul Razi is also known on this forum by the member name ‘Parvez’ and his contact details can be verified by looking at the Incepta thread in the Pharma’s Market section https://fixhepc.com/forum/daa-access.html

I haven’t personally purchased medication from him or the company he works for, Incepta (nor from Beacon) but neither have I heard of anyone not receiving what they ordered when dealing directly with the contacts listed for these two businesses in our Pharma’s Market section during the 15 months I have been a member of this forum.

    Hi Browny,

RSF provides a good summary of the situation and provides some sound advice.

(BTW I responded to your PM)

Without knowing more about your previous tx, how you responded while taking and whether you reached undetected status at any stage, it is difficult to advise. If you read Dr Freeman’s post to another member in the below link you will see he recommends that those seeking retreatment aim for two out of the following three choices of “longer, stronger, add Ribavirin.” Sofosvel may qualify as one (stronger) of the two things you need to do so you probably need to consider including one of the other two suggestion to give yourself the best chance but I’m not an expert.

    https://fixhepc.com/forum/fixhepc-admin/1453-detectable-after-being-undetectable.html#23341

I understand that you are on a fixed income but retreatment is something that should preferably be undertaken with expert advice and in your situation it is particularly important to give yourself the best chance of succeedIng this time. If you don’t currently have access to advice from a local specialist then I would recommend that you consider a Skype consultation with a doctor at GP2U https://gp2u.com.au/about_us/our_people.html
You would need to provide as much medical history as possible and it would cost you something like US$70 but I believe it would provide you with sound medical advice and assurance about the best course of action for your individual circumstances.

    Hi happi and welcome, :)

Beacon’s direct links can be found here https://fixhepc.com/forum/daa-access/439-beacon-pharmaceuticals-sof-dac-sof-dac-sof-vel-combo.html

Hopefully some of our members will give you feedback on their experiences with Beacon and Sofosvel. As splitdog says, when you are dealing with international bank transfers it pays to double check with your bank that the transaction is fully completed at both ends to avoid the delays that sumblues had initially.

I have to think if Gilead can make a reasonable profit in India at $850, an unrestricted, unregulated, and unquestioned price of US$ 84,000 in the US, and in other ‘first world” countries is not only criminal, but deliberately genocidal.

Agreed with the second part of that statement but you need to remember that US$850 is a huge amount of money for most Indians, probably not totally out of proportion with what the US actually pays, something like US$50k.

Here is the link to Dr Andrew Hill’s press conference about the cost of a 12 week Sof/Dac treatment being US$80.

    http://www.healio.com/hepatology/hepatitis-c/news/online/{109cec7a-ae62-41db-b9c8-93f662b02912}/video-cost-to-treat-hcv-could-be-as-low-as-80-in-the-us

Which goes to show how much profit there currently is in this field. On the other hand, I suspect that if these medications were priced in the “low hundreds” in developing nations and up to “several thousands” in so called first world countries we wouldn’t be sitting here having this discussion, most of the world’s population with HCV would be cured and the pharmaceutical companies and their shareholders would be laughing all the way to the bank.

Yes, by giving you ownership but did it actually inspire the art that you created? Did IP provide Michael Sofia with the innovative insight to develop Sofosbuvir?

My point is that in each case I suspect both of you would have created regardless because that is what you each do. The IP only protects you for any monetary value that society bestows on your acts of creativity.

“any sense of stewardship or public responsibility”

    :+1:

This sums the problem up. And it seems to be an international problem that isn’t just restricted to the pharmaceutical industry. It is represented at its best (worst) by those members of boards of listed companies who feel it appropriate to reward themselves with packages of >$400 million per year as I commented earlier. Justified to shareholders by the improved performance they achieve (which is often illusory juggling) and often retained when things slump because that was “outside their control”.
