Hi Enrico and Tommy
I understand your concerns. Everyone should base their decisions on reliable information. You can’t get any more reliable than the Journal of Hepatology. Please note LB03 just over half way down the first column.
On a separate issue about cost, this site offers you a variety of reliable options to access your required DAAs at a price similar to what you would pay if you flew to the country that manufactured the generic DAAs and purchased them yourself. However, when you factor in the price of your plane ticket and accommodation, you would effectively double your cost.
I’m merely a very happy patient who can now see a future for himself.

Good to hear from you. While doing research into treatment options I read a lot of your posts on this forum. Your treatment success, and that of the other GT2s on this forum, was the reason I decided to go down the generic SOF + DCV path. Thanks for helping pave that path for me.
I’m glad to hear that all of your extra energy has enabled you to get busy with life again. I’m looking forward to that! I’m feeling better and better as every week passes. We are the lucky ones who were infected with the HCV genetic weakling in the HCV genotype playground. I hope other GT1s and GT3s are not disheartened by our relatively quick clearance rates. We are just plain lucky. The DAAs will get rid of their HCV RNA … just takes a little longer … but it will happen!
Thanks mate, from the GT2 newbie to the original 2b (veteran).

Day 42 of treatment today. So I thought that I’d reflect on the ride so far.
Tricia registered her nursing notes about moderation and maintaining treatment notes, while Gaj and Beaches declared their addiction to coffee and advised, together with Coral and re-roll, no need to avoid it. They neglected, however, to give me advance warning of the rabble on this forum.
At one extreme, the Honky Tonk Woman gives me Joy with her warm wishes, and then at the other extreme a pie loving pirate threatens to make me walk the plank, and rip the throats out of my footy team, simply because her team lost to mine recently. Then, a tribe of degenerate surfies temporarily stunned me with a psychedelic cossie, hijacked me, and took me to some rock in the Hep C free world that Matt knows of, where you can go surfing with elephants. Now, that was one hell of a trip. You won’t get that on a Contiki Tour.
Thanks guys for putting a smile on my dial every day.
I was planning to be a strong bronzed Aussie and tough this ride out on my own. I’m glad that I changed my mind and joined the forum. The warm support given by all of you has helped me a lot more than I imagined.
Here’s one of my favourite comedy skits. I hope that it puts a smile on your dial.

Been for a surf today?

I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the other GT2s on this forum who have taken SOF + DCV, for giving me the confidence to step up to the plate and have an almighty swing at this difficult to hit HCV virus. I noticed that you, and the others, hit it well out of the park first time and every time. Based on that, I decided to join your team (sorry about the self invite …
If it wasn’t for you guys, like a blind fool, I would have followed the standard GT2 recommendation of SOF + RBA and probably been sick as a dog for 3 months or so. I really think that the “experts” who make these recommendations need to urgently reconsider their GT2 guidance.
I really don’t deserve being promoted up the batting order … I’m just happy backing up all the GT2s before me … I’m merely standing on the shoulders of giants. Thanks guys!
Cheers

Great cartoon!
Sometimes our so called “democracy” feels like a dictatorship … especially when the tail wags the dog to such an extent that big Phama dictates to governments and then avoids paying its fair share of corporate tax by funnelling the majority of their profits into low taxed countries, like Ireland (12.5%).
I hope that you are sailing through your first few days of treatment.
Best Wishes

Way to go … you’ll soon be feeling better than you ever have for years … this’ll be a game changer … drink plenty of water, maintain a positive attitude, and you’ll be HCV negative in no time (OK, to be pedantic: HCV RNA Undetected).
Keep us posted … I look forward to following your progress over the coming weeks.
Good luck & best wishes from GT2

Thanks for your speedy reply.
Firstly, congratulations on being Week 8 UND! It makes me sad reading the crap you have had to put up with …
On a separate issue, it sounds like we are peas in a pod … my ferritin levels are high too, just under the upper range limit, but I’m not too worried about it b/c it’s always been high … par for the course if you have HCV I think … plus I grow & eat a lot of my own leafy green vegies (silver beat, bok choy, kale etc … got some broccolini growing at the moment too ) .
The 11.9 fasting glucose is worrying to me … I think that I’ll get some blood tests done at week 8 and see if it has come down like it did for you. If not, I’ll follow Dr Freeman’s advice and see if I can get a prescription for metformin.
Thanks for your quick response and professional advice Dr Freeman, I appreciate it.
Thanks CJ for sharing your low GI diet and exercise story.

Great News Today … I finally got back by week 4 Vial Load Test.
All of my week 4 tests results are back now. I was thrown a curve ball initially with an unexpected high fasting glucose level. It concerned me and I was worried it may have adverse effects on the efficacy of the SOF + DCV. I was feeling confident prior to this.
I was also feeling the pressure of not letting the GT2 team down …especially considering that I had the audacity to call myself GT2 and Dr Freeman stated that he has 100% for SOF + DCV in GT2 so far.
Anyway, I can happily say that I haven’t ruined the batting average. Dr Freeman, you still have a perfect strike rate. I know I’m only on first base, but I’m confident of making it home to SVR12. Thanks Greg Jefferys for taking the time to explain all of my treatment options, considering your busy schedule at the time, and then making the rest of the process a breeze. I will always be internally grateful to you and Dr Freeman. This has changed my life!
