Hi Ariel
Sorry about the brag … couldn’t help it … we are lucky to have some of the best surfing locations in the world over here in the west. I’m not sure where that particular shot was taken … probably down around Yallingup.
I can’t remember when, or if, the Eagles played off in the grand final with Collingwood … the Eagles have beaten Geelong (twice ’92 & ’94) & Sydney ’06, and been runners-up to Hawthorn (twice ’91 & ’15) and Sydney ’05. You may be thinking of a prelim, elim, or semi at some time.
Hey, by the way … have you heard about the Fremantle Dockers marketing man door knocking his way around Fremantle in an effort to increase their membership numbers? They are yet to win a game this season after 8 games … and their crowd numbers are dwindling … so Owen from their membership team has been door knocking. A Dockers fan heard a knock at the door, and asked who it was … Owen was the reply … Owen who the Dockers fan asked … Owen Eight
I agree about wave size … anything over 6 foot is too big for me … those tow in surfers are a lot braver than me … or crazier … it takes a lot of guts, and skill, to do what they do.

Hi Hope
My fasting glucose level has shot up to 11.9 … unfortunately, it wasn’t tested immediately prior to treatment … the last time it was tested, in 2012, it was 6.2 and then 6.0.
I too am on a low carb diet, drink plenty of water … and I exercise every morning.
I was wondering if the increase in blood sugar affected your treatment? Also, how long did it stay high?
At first I was pretty worried about it. However, I’m feeling really good, and feeling better as time passes, with no side effects. So, I’m hoping that the raised blood sugar may only be temporary while on treatment.

Ariel, we certainly witnessed the pie’s collywobbles when the Weagles pulled their pants down over here a few weeks ago (exactly doubled their score (WCE 124 def Coll 62)). The pies definitely miss Swany … I love watching him play … should’ve won the 2010 Brownlow and definitely deserved the 2011 medal.
Beaches, I love the photo of your cossies … I reckon they’d be a better shark deterrent than the Collingwood cossies … anything with teeth would be too bedazzled to take a bite. hmy:
Great shot of your board on the beach Ariel … and of the little ripples in the background … can’t call ‘em waves … this is what we call a wave in the west (taken yesterday): hmy:
Sorry to hear about your mate … leukaemia is a nasty disease … sounds like she is getting a lot of support from you guys …

Over 300 swimmers is a decent turn out … no need to wear shark deterring cossies with odds like that … i.e. only 1 in 300 chance that you’ll be singled out for breakfast.
I’m not too sure on how robust the science is behind the above black and white design that is supposed to deter sharks … something to do with disturbing a shark’s visual perception … but I think it is simply that sharks would instantly recognise that the wearer would no doubt be a Collingwood supporter and be unsavoury. hmy:
Sorry, about my attempt at humour … but this would be a lot funnier if you lived in an AFL state … (Collingwood supporters act and behave similar to that of Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs supporters (so I’m led to believe …)

I agree, I’m pleasantly surprised on how supportive fellow forum members are and how willing they are to offer advice based on their experiences … it helps a lot. I think I will take a leaf out of your hubby’s book and start to keep a food and activity diary so I can fine tune what, and what doesn’t, work for me.
Beaches, I just had a look at your Bold and Beautiful swim group online … and I’m a bit envious. What a great thing to do. Roughly a 1.5km swim there and back. Just the right distance to get a fantastic feeling afterwards without being too draining and being fatigued for the rest of the day. I’ve done a lot of swimming over the years, first thing in the morning before work, and found 20 to 30 laps (depending on how energetic I was feeling) was perfect for me … anything more I’d end up being too tired in the afternoons. I think I will start swimming again over the next few weeks just to mix things up.
By the way, do you guys wear shark deterring bathers similar to the one below?
