Patent protection shouldn’t extend to the government’s treatment of its veterans. Uncle Sam should just whip up a batch of DAAs and solve the problem in the interest of national security.

You tried. It was the caring thing to do. Call it “brainwashing” or conditioned response or whatever. It is an effective tool, whether used in a positive or negative manner. The military does it in basic training. People in North Korea think the US is full of homeless people and in a constant state of racial warfare. Its all they have ever been exposed to by the state media, so that is “their” reality. The same applies to Chinese products in the US. Most people only hear about the bad stuff: tainted baby formula, dog food and contaminated fish. Children’s toys covered in lead based paint. Ignorance can be cured by accurate information but it requires an open mind.
Some people just aren’t blessed with one.

Looking back, I would have done a few things differently. First off, I would use my own personal rolled up bill and not pass it around….

So Here Are The Steps

Get a script for the required medication from your doctor, or an online doctor service like GP2U Telehealth;
Send that script, the authorisation agreement, and your payment to the Buyers Club;
Get your tested medication in the mail ready to use.

Gilead’s patent gives them the legal right to control import/manufacture/export from Australia so it is not possible for the Buyers Club to send medication to addresses outside Australia if the medication in question ever entered the country.
To survive the Buyer’s Club must obey every letter of every law.
The Australian personal importation and poisons laws means that you as a patient must see a doctor in Australia and get a script.
If you happen to be outside Australia you could see a doctor online through a service such as GP2U Telehealth who are supportive of patients seeking medication access. If you are in Australia you can see any doctor, although many are not supportive.
An Australian prescription provisions a personal importation, and this can legally be sent anywhere in Australia. Hypothetically if this medication was then exported it is clear this export was not performed by the Buyers Club. Please note that we do not recommend or encourage the notion of shipping medication to a friend in Australia and then asking them to export it to you because that would be illegal, even if it worked fine which it probably would.
The Buyers Club can arrange for medication to be shipped directly from manufacturer to you in the event you live outside Australia and testing can be done on your medication. We are working on making that happen in your country of origin, thus avoiding import/export issues.
