Looks like the government is giving PBS hepC meds in one hand & taking Bulk Billing in the other hand.
If we have to pay full price for pathology tests, it will be very costly.

Have you had another PCR at week 12 , after still being detected at week 4 ?
I would say that you still would have a very good chance of coming in negitive at EOT.

Yes we are very similar.
I’m G1a, F3-4, 2003 – 2004 Relapsed on Peg Interferon & Ribavirin.
I started my 24 week treatment 17 weeks ago with the first 12 weeks of Sof, Led & Riba.
The second 12 weeks is just the Sof & Led.
4 week PCR <12 Detected. ALT's in normal range
12 week PCR Undetected. ALT's in normal range.

Just to clear up my story.
No, I wasn’t pointing the finger at anyone.
I was the one feeling guilty after finding out that I was hepC positive & had been a blood donor for the past 20 yrs.
Yes, I was working in the psychiatric medical field for 45 yrs.
I was involved in acute admission , chronic, rehab, community, drug & alcohol counselling.

I agree about the side effects of Ribavirin.
Like you I did peg interferon & Ribavirin for 12 mths back in 2003.
It was 12 mths of hell & I didn’t clear.
This time round my doctor suggested that I do 24 weeks of Sofosbuvir & Ledisbovir , including the first 12 weeks of Ribavirin 1200mg.
I wasn’t that keen with the Ribavirin but my doctor said it could give me a couple of percent better chance of clearing the virus.
Anyhow , I made it through the first 12 weeks {{{{{{{ JUST }}}}}}} . My Haemoglobin dropped to 104. Had all the old side effects from 12 yrs back but I preserved on to give this treatment the best chance I could,
I’ve now only got 10 weeks to go with the Sofosbuvir & Ledisbovir .
I feel that most of the Ribavirin has left my body over the past 2 weeks. My appetite has returned & also my taste.
Will have a FBC this week to see how the Haemoglobin has built back up.
