When I asked for a script to take to India my doc said it would be no good to me because he is not licensed in India

I really feel for the hoops you guys in the UK are having to jump through.
When I got my sof and riba from India it arrived with a script written
out by an unknown Indian doctor even though I had provided a script from my own Australian doctor. So really all your reluctant UK doctor would only be doing by writing a script is saying it is ok for you to take these drugs in the UK and it is ok for an Indian Doctor to legitimately write out a script for you.I got my stuff through Greg.I am not sure it works the same with the buyers club.Hope this helps

    Hamilton— Don’t get it.What is the logic behind 24wks sof led,and only 12wks riba.Curious!

Just listened to the podcast Thx Archer and Sir Paul. Score Dr John Freeman 10 -Helen Tyrrell nil. What hypocritical rubbish she came out with. The” wait-wait we will provide” has been going forever. In my own case I spoke to my GP a year ago about accessing tx from India. My fibroscan reading was 5.”Wait” he said.I was actually going to Sri Lanka where sof was available at the time, and could have easily accessed it.2 mths ago I saw my GP again.”Wait” he said.By this time my fibroscan reading was 14,By lucky chance i had discovered the Greg Jeffreys blogsite, and insisted he write out some scripts..Within 3 wks I had the sof from India and the Dac from Mesochem.I am now 3wks into tx and have never felt better,What would the result have been if I had continued to wait?.Helen Tyrrell should be grateful that I have saved the PBS a heap of money as have all the others who have done the same. Why could she not have just come out and said “If you can afford $2000 then I endorse your effort” .In fact, an unlikely, but sensible solution would be for the PBS to subsidise people who cant’t afford the $2000 odd dollars while the Govt arm wrestles with Big Pharma over the price.
A concern is. that if the Govt makes a deal with Big Pharma ,it will only be a partial solution and it will include a caveat that all efforts must be made to close down groups such as the Fx buyers club.
If you haven’t already, get your meds now, even it means using your credit card. Its a tiny price compared with your life.
Don’t trust the Govt bureaucracy and the likes of HelenTyrell.

It seems I am in the same catagory as chester ( 1b, naïve, f3/4) I am doing sof and riba from India, dac from Mesochem.
My specialist is confident 12 wks is enough. However, the 6gm from Mesochem gives me an extra 16 days, and I have extra riba,so I will probably try an access some extra sof to give me the extra.2wks.Why waste good dac.I approached the pill onslaught with “fear and trembling”.I am 10 days in and much to my surprise,I feel great. The only side effect has been some truly bizzare nightime dreams.
Went for a 60k bikeride yesterday. If it remains like this it will be a breeze. My only fear is forgetting to take the stuff.
I watched the Graham Foster video about 10 times and studied the Ally trials and am fairly confident in the 12wk regime advice of my specialist. As has been mentioned it is an individual decision, but most of the anecdotal evidence seems to be positive about 12wks being enough if el cheepo riba is added.

I note the following in the NIM report
    “Recommended storage
When not in use, this material should be stored at or
    below 4 ºC
in a closed container in a dry, dark area”

This is below the temperature that most fridges maintain.
Does this mean one would have to keep it in a freezer, which is not a good idea for most medications?
Does it also indicate abnormal chemical instability?

Ah,what memories you bring back Alsdad. Those days when to get a copy of the ‘Naked Lunch” you whispered in the booksellers ear,and he reached under the counter and handed it to you prewrapped in brown paper, whilst looking over his shoulder.
Are we in a truly mad world?.Here we have the means to wipe this cursed virus from the face of the planet. And what is preventing it-THE SYSTEM-.Law and order must prevail.Investors must reap their rewards like pigs swilling at a trough. No short cuts must be allowed.Death is preferable to change. The correct procedures must be maintained. We must bow and curtsie to our great ally,America.
How lucky we are to have Communist China, and Socialist India to say “Stick your selfish patents up your butt.”
How lucky we are to have courageous decent men driven by commonsence and compassion like Doc James, and Greg Jefferys, and probably others I don’t know about.

Pharmaceutical companies are investor driven.I recently read a shocking report by an american investment source advising investors in Gilead that they need not fear competition from other drug companies over new HCV drugs as 240,000 new cases could confidently be expected in the USA every year, and there would be enough profits for everyone. That is the shocking mindset that governs it all. It’s capitailism devoid of any morality from a country only too ready to lecture the rest of the world on human rights.Nothing is going to change that.
There is ,however, one faint star on the horizon. It is our own little Australian Benitec Biopharma .Quote from their website.
“Benitec Biopharma has developed a breakthrough platform for treating human diseases called ddRNAi.
Unlike other RNAi-based technologies, ddRNAi effects lasting change in target cells, leading to long term benefit and, potentially, cure. ”
Our current clinical pipeline is focused on multi-billion dollar market opportunities in Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, lung cancer and wet Age-related Macular Degeneration, as well as the orphan genetic disease, oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy. However, ddRNAi technology has potential well beyond these conditions; it could potentially be applied to countless genes in humans and in disease-causing micro-organisms.’

The technology involves gene silencing.Once the appropriate gene is silenced the virus cannot replicate and a person cannot be reinfected. One of the issues is that, unlike gene splicing, once a gene is turned off it cannot be turned on again, and it is a question of finding the correct vector to work the process..The research is well advanced and 5 trial sites have been set up,Yes, you guessed it,IN THE USA.
I have had a long conversation with Peter French the head scientist. He is very optimistic and confident. If it can be shown to work it will be a major revolution in medicine.
One of the questions I asked him was “If this is successful, its going to punch a massive hole in Big Pharma’s profits, how are they going to react. He seemed to think some sort of parnership agreement would emerge. But then he added “Of course if we were made an offer we could not refuse,we may have to rethink.”The only help this promising little company gets from the Australian Govt is Tax Concessions. This company operates on a tiny budget, and our local billionaires have shown no investment savvy. Its had to list on the Nasdaq to try and raise capital.
So in other words a discovery,if it shown to work, that could save this country billions will possibly be bought by the yanks in order to protect their own Big Pharma, and sold back to us,probably at a price that we cannot afford.
    Are we a stupid country?

I don’t understand it either Berrinice. The information comes from My GP.He tells me Doctors are licensed in the State they work in.Each state has different regulations.and a doctor working in that state must conform to them.A doctor working in Queensland cannot for example work in NSW without renewing his license to practice.

On the surface nothing should be affected. The Genie is well and truly out of the bottle.Anyway the TPP still has to get through both houses of parliarment. However,I am wary. The Americans have a history of nasty tactics, and what is presently happening with overseas accessed generics must be a real thorn in their side..Doctors in Sth Australia are already barred from writing scripts for overseas generics, I have been told. One would hope that this is not extended elsewhere.I am personally taking a cautious approach and making sure I have enough medication to last to the end of treatment.Hopefully everyone who needs this medication will be able to continue to easily access it,its really an unstoppable avalanche, but it could easily be made more difficult.I really hope not.It would be really stupid if people had to end up going overseas personally to get what they rightfully need.

Well I am doing it Chester, only trying to compare notes.Who says we are all indecisive people?I feel it would be more inspirational to others simply to say you are having success with no side effects.A cornerstone of this forum should by about mutual support rather than Hysterical showmanship, amusing none the less.I wish you well.
